I read lots of ideas about strategies, betting , playing hands, the right amount of banklroll. etc. and want all those online here to know that I am much appreciative of all these advise....

I've read Dolly's book and others and am now not losing as I was at first. In fact, I'm staying about even.

Since, I'm learning poker to increase my cash flow in this world, I do have one question though. If it's not too personal, are many of you folks winning decent pots and increasing your original banks sizeably??

thoughts on this , please and thanks again for all the ideas here in the forum.

I'm still working on my game. I am beating the low end of the micros pretty nicely. However as I move up I am about break-even. Because of this I know that I still have holes in my game and I am working on identifying and plugging them now.

This is one of the things I enjoy about poker. Once I've "mastered" a given level of play there is always a higher level offering a new challenge.

I've won over $20,000 in the past year, starting with only $200. It pays for tuition and housing here at school.

hmmm

Have you ever mentioned that before? I'm not sure.

Better be careful or you'll turn into a bobblehead doll...

Congrats on the tourney wins jack, and I have a Mark Seif Bobblehead doll. It cost me a lot of rake points on his site from a while back. I have built more than 500BB. Every week I transfer the $$ above that amount to neteller so I can take advantage of redeposit bonuses if need be and I cash out the white meat every quarter which pays rent, car and sometimes upgrades to the house like an entire stainless steel kitchen. Eventually, I may move over to pokerstars as it seems there are quite a few more players there and there might be a decent selection of mid limit $10/20 or higher games. Personally $5/10 fixed limit is where its at for me and my roll, as far as competition and available number of tables.

If you apply knowledge, take a furocious approach to the game, and soak in as much information, techniques, and increase the number of tools in your belt, you too can make money playing even low limit poker. Personally, I deposited $135 2 1/2 months ago, and a few multi table final tables, and consistent winning at 10c 25c then 25c 50c I've managed to turn my deposit into over $1000 in a short period of time.

Yeah. I started with $8 from a freeroll and topped $150 this week playing .10/.25 stud 8 and $2.40 SNGs.

poker has a giant learning curve. i play NL, but low limit, and i was a loser at 1st... a big one at that. i think i lost 3k in my 1st 6 weeks of playing online. this was because i was making a few critical mistakes over and over. since then a friend has helped me with the nuances of my game, and i went from unprofitable to profitable (not just marginally profitable) in about 5 weeks or so.

there are still holes in my game but you should pick a strategy which best suits you. I think im just coming into my game now. i decided to withdraw and redeposit on another site and ive already doubled my initial bankroll due to the bonuses and profits i ve made. I decided i was going to play above my bankroll but real tight until i can comfortably sit at those tables. My only requirement was that I always play extremely strong hands and really only be willing to commit my whole stack with a flopped set or better (or aces/kings if i can squeeze it in with certainty knowing im way ahead... ie against a maniac)

this has resulted in approximately 300-400 BB profit per day, playing 8 hours per day, by the time i clear my bonuses i SHOULD have tripled or quadrupled my initial deposit/bankroll (was small to begin with due to quite a few bad beats the day before i withdrew it all)

As long as you play smart and capitalize on others' mistakes you will be profitable.

In 1 year on this site, i have turned my initial $500 deposit into $1243 playing low limit and NL holdem, as well as some low limit stud. But i have to say that probably about 500 of that profit is due to bonuses.
Be careful with people who tell you that they are "winning" players. Some may have more money, but in poker they are losing, and some people don't even keep track and just say "yeah ive won a little"
The truth is, i really don't know if i'm a winning player yet or not. I may have won money over the past year, but i don't play much anymore, maybe a few hours per week. In time, i'll play a lot more, but sometimes i dont' play at all. Maybe i'm just having a good year.
Winning players are those that play for years for hours a day and really dedicate their time to poker, and, with that, show consistent profits each month or so. Personally though, there is more to life than poker.
