Hand 7: At least 3/4 pot, as you can expect to get called light at this point and a heart isn't your favorite thing to see on the river. On a non heart river you'll make more money on the hands that do call your turn bet.

LO, the reasoning about players yet to act makes sense. Can anyone else weigh in on the AK hand? I'd like to get some more opinions about it, particularly in regard to the pros and cons of 3-betting something like 3x as opposed to shoving.

Anyway, continuing on!

The pot is 295 now, if I calculated correctly.

I would be something like 100. Again, not scaring the other guy away. You probably have the best hand, but you want a call and some extra chips, and not a fold.

I haven't been very active recently. Now I'm on the button with one (shortstacked, LP) limper. What to do?

I skipped over the other hands, but is there any vote for something other than a fold for the A4o in SB? I almost always fold A-rag in SB/BB because playing OOP with a weak ace is not my idea of fun. But are there other opinions on this?

I don't see much value in getting invovled w/ the T8o here, I'd fold.

With A4, sometimes I complete, sometimes not, it depends on what kind of mood I'm in really, although I don't really like either option honestly.

Back to AK hand, I'm still not convinced you can realistically put a shover on a tight enough range to justify folding it after a 3 bet, but at the same time I am not looking to flip this early. I don't like the shove much either, you get called too often for my liking imo, and there isn't enough in the middle already to justify that. I'm still in the minority, but I still prefer flatting there, its really not a hard hand to play if you do, but 3-betting or pushing can get you into spots that I don't like to be this early when I think I have an edge on the field. If blinds were anything other than tiny I would have a different opinion.

I fold the T8o. Blinds are very low, no need to take risks.

Yeah, I think flatting the AK might not be bad after all. I'm still not convinced about 3-betting and ending up with a big pot and a hand that has to hit to want to continue. I also think part of why AK is so powerful is because of PF FE, which I'm giving up by flatting.

Anyway, back to the T8 hand. I figure I've got position, and open limpers ought to be punished. Plus, open-limping shortstacks are usually pretty bad players, so even if he calls, I'm not too worried. So I raised it up. Didn't work out so well. Oh well.

A5o sucks, I am not in a great position, but on the other hand people have shown a tendency to limp or fold PF. Seems like a fairly scared table. I could limp this or raise it. Should I?

Bad players also get good starting hands. I think this is flawed reasoning.

About the A5o hand: fold it.

I know you said you're trying to be more LAG, but do it at the right moment, not now at a full table.

Punish open limpers when the time is right, sure, but T8o with 20/40 blinds doesn't qualify imo. Make the same move when the limper has 1200 and limps in for 100 (which many will still do), then the payoff is more reasonable. Trying this hard to outplay the bad opponents this early can easily blow up on you imo.

MP1 with A5o seems like a pretty standard fold as well. What are we going for here, stealing the 60 in blinds? Raises aren't stealing blinds either. Hand 6, raiser gets reraised, Hand 9, raiser got 2 callers, Hand 10, 1 caller, hand 11, raiser got shoved on behind. I disagree with your assessment of the limp or fold table, there is limping but when there is a prelfop raise they are seeing plenty of action. Fold it.

Yeah, I probably should have folded it. As you can see, I think I'm playing a little too crazily. Getting that feedback is one reason why I'm posting! (Although the blinds are 75, not 60...) Anyway, continuing on. I promise I start playing better! Smile

I think this is a matter of preference. His blind is only 50, I would simply fold but you could try to steal as well I guess. It won't make much difference for your eventual tournament result, I think.

Chouby75 (MP1): 2,535

Pre-Flop: (75) A 9 dealt to Hero (CO)
Tyler AAAA folds, Mcclaud222 calls 50, Chouby75 folds, Wood16 calls 50, Hero ???

Do I want to play this? If so, should I raise or limp? I'd fold this to a raise, but is folding it because of some limpers too weak?

well it really doesn't play well multi-way post flop, so I don't see any problem with folding. I'll occasionally limp here if I feel the table is especially spewy, but even then its hard to cash in on that with a hand like this. I also think a raise is too likely to get called for my taste.

I would call this if I have a good read on the table. However, it's still a marginal hand. You need a good flop to continue playing. If you're insisting on playing LAG, I would call (since there was only one limper) and then check-fold if you miss. If I'm in a tight mood, I would fold.

I can only see the HH's here, but it feels like I would call just for the heck of it. Hoping for a AJ9 flop and someone who goes crazy with his AQ. Laughing
