Hello,
I'm french, so sorry for my english.
I was speaking in french with other french persons in my table.
And somebody tell us that wasn't authorized, and that only english was authorized on chat of a poker table.
Is it true ?
I post also this question here:

Welcome to the forums, Damien.
That's generally the rule. Some sites have language specific tables, where you can speak French, or Turkish, or whatever, but most don't. For most sites it`s English only. It`s to prevent collusion.
Remember that scene from Rounders?
Two Russians speak to each other in Russian at the poker table.
Worm: "No speaking **** sputnik at the poker table."
Russian guy: "He thinks we are cheating."
Worm: I'm sure you guys were probably just discussing perogies and snow and ****, but c'mon." |

So, even if we don't speak about the game, we can't speak in french.
So french people who don't speak english can't speak wtih other french people on a chat.
Am I right ?
It seems to be so strange ! |

All conversation at an active ring game or tournament table must be conducted in English except in country specific tournaments, where players and observers may chat in English or the primary language of that country (e.g. in tournaments limited to players in Germany, players may chat in German or English). Only chat in English and the primary language of that country are permitted in such tournaments. In all other cases, chat is limited specifically to English. Any other chat in languages besides English may result in the suspension of a user’s chat privileges. |

Hello ,
But of course one must speak english at the tables,I was warned once because I forgot,(it is easy to ) but now I talk only english . I understand this rule, it is annoying when people talk in a language one understands not,and the natural instinct at a poker table is to believe in collusion! However, until a technology is created that would somehow translate on line in these situations, then best to talk in english as it is the more widely spoken tongue on FT. |

It took me less than a minute to translate dontmarryher's post to French. I went to http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_txt
I'm not saying I'll break the rules, especially since I only speak English. I'm just saying some rules may not be necessary. |
