Moved to the SNG forum where it belongs. Getting all-in with a flush was one of the few things you actually did right in this hand.

It sucks when you get beat by a higher flush. I lost the other month in a cash game BIG on one hand.

I was holding J,6 clubs

Flop came

A, K, 6 (the ace and king were clubs)

Turn

4 of clubs

River was 2 of diamonds

Guy pushed all in $200 more to make the total pot right around $1000 and I was holding the Jack. There was only one card that could beat me in this hand and when he turned it over, sure enough, he held the Queen Crying or Very sad . Made my heart sink haha.

Yep... UTG, you should be raising if you're gonna play it at all. Limping in just invites others to do the same, and you run into coolers like this. And honestly, choosing the time that the SB had 25% of his chips in the pot is generally a bad time to go speculating.

Actually, I think in this particular case, limping was ok. Generally speaking, you don't want to limp in with SCs, because, while getting a lot of other people in the pot is actually good (it increases implied odds, which is why you are playing the SCs in the first place), you are OOP. Being OOP decrease your implied odds.

However, the great thing about the SB almost certainly going all in is that you will likely get to see all five cards, because people like to check down pots when others are all in. This is great for you, because if you flop two diamonds, you will likely not have to pay to see the next two cards.

That said, I would hardly say limping was anything more than ok. You still have terrible implied odds.
