Get a better hand than a pair of two's. The guy who beat you that hand really sucks too. |

| i hate the raise on 5th and the bet on 6th. you jammed the pot on 3rd, with a 3 up. then you slow up betting when you hit a Q. then raise after you hit a 4, on 5th. right now you're pretty much given away your hand to any thinking player. a bet on 6th is just a spew at this point, since rick had already checked to you. he had a terrible hand too, but you could have saved yourself two bets. |

I'm not sure if this is a SnG or MTT table tourney or the prize structure.
Anyway, here are my thoughts.
3rd street
A23 looks a lot better than it is. I like the limp here, however when rick raises and mzbuns calls, I would have called to see what develops on 4th.
By raising, you are driving out mzbuns who is competing for high. You're better off leaving mzbuns in the hand since he can run some interference and help determine if rick is going high or low.
That leaves you heads up with ricktheruler and you're equity is bad if he has a high hand. If he is also going low, you'd be surprised as to how close your equity is against his hand range. In other words you're just gambling at this point. This may be fine for a cash game but in this stage of a tourney, and with your chip counts this just does not make much sense at this point.
Another consequence of the 3rd street play is that you've made the pot so big, it is correct for both you and rick to continue with the hand even if both of you have nothing at this point. Even if he caught good and you caught bad you might still have to peel.
If you had just called, you could have just sighed and folded on 4th instead of being pot stuck.
4th
peeling is okay since the pot is so big.
5th
meh, raising is okay since it gives you an opportunity to take a free card on 6th. It also gives you the chance to get an extra bet if you catch a magical 5.
Something unlikely could happen and your opponent could fold. However, your opponent probably isn't going to fold since PeteD folded a 3 so it's not likely you started with the (33)3 that you are representing.
6th
This is a pretty bad bet here since the Js really doesn't change anything and you're opponent has to be drawing live in one direction. He caught a much better card here and I can't see how he would ever fold his hand against your hand given that the pot is so large.
Take the free card.
7th
check is the play here. Save the 160. |
