With a $9.00 bank roll and 700 FTP I keep studying to improve my game. In year two I have won 3 freerolls for WSoP and PAD. I won the Sit N go Madness entry to the FTOP Main Event. I think I could cash the 500 Dollar entry Fee or Play it. I want to play it but need a few great words of wisdom. I study the full tilt tournament book, and Ace on the River SS2.
Its very hard to retain the information and will have to rely and my game as it is at game time. Please give me the most useful tip

Yeah, with a $9 bankroll I'd unregister.

If you had a $509 bankroll, would you use $500 of it to buy into the tourney?

It amounts to the same thing.

If you are just looking to spend $500 to have some fun, play in the tournament.

If you are serious about trying to build a bankroll and become better at poker, take the cash and play smaller tournaments ($5 or $10 ones).

Alternatively, you could always compromise and take the cash, then buy entry into another not-quite-as-high-stakes (like $100, instead of $500) tournament to have some fun.

The worst thing you could possibly do is play this tournament in the hopes of making money. If you are seriously considering playing in this tournament because you want to make more money, you need to go back and relearn bankroll management, which is a very important part of poker.

how did you win the seat, sng or mtt? and how many players? id say take the 500 t$ and try to win the seat again. if it cost you 100 of your t$ to win another 500 seat, then now you have the entry and 400 to spare.

I would rather have fun play the tourney. Also if u wanted to maybe read harrington on holdem or something of that sort give u a better shot at making the money. I mean when are u gonna get to play another 500$ tourney ya know. But the morre realsitic thing to do is take the cash and build ur bankroll.

You can also see it like this
You paid no real dollars yourself for the tournament, so lets see how things work out.. maybe you end up getting nr 1
and then you are rich!

Since you only have $9 I'd cash it in. My BR is about $200 so I am shooting for the seat in a satellite as we speak. I'll play in it if I happen to get lucky. I could buy a house with a dern top 3. And I can make the $500 in a few weeks playing cash games. But yeah, $9, I'd take the cash.
