I might see you in Vegas the last part of June. I may play in the WSOP event starting June 27. As far as the BB, RR has probably lost $400,000 of their own money by not paying this out(the poker room is dead, lost revenue, and poker players and spouses usually play slots, etc., and that is gone too). On top of that, they have bought land on both the SW quarters of the Flandreau exit and Madison exit. I think either RR or Mystic Lake plan on building a new casino on the interstate. It would make the casino profits go up by a huge amount. The problem is, they have to have the compact with the state approved to do the movement and expansion. Our whole group plans to testify against the casino if they plan to expand to the interstate on the grounds they do not protect the players or there is no legal recourse against the casino if anything like this occurs. I can't believe the legislature would allow the expansion without settling this case. So, Royal River has lost $400,000 to save $96,000 that was not theirs, and is putting at risk any expansion which could make the casino millions. If you were at the hearing, there is no way you would have believed we would not get paid. It's bad business, and makes no sense.

There is supposed to be a meeting between the lawyers in the next two weeks. Maybe something will happen. Five months of frozen bad beat money now. You'd think they would want to end it sometime.

The funny thing, they are walking all over themselves. We are not losing any money by waiting, on the other hand, they are spending money on lawyers and the poker room is basically shut down. They have lost hundreds of thousands of their own money over this, all to keep from paying out money that was taken from the rake. In addition, the casino wants to expand, either by moving along the interstate or by adding 50 more slot machines. There is no way the Governor or legislature will allow that with this not decided. A true case of shooting ones own foot.

Bill said he thought it might be next week or the week after. With the new $90 million casino being built outside Sioux Falls in the next year, Royal River better start treating their customers better or the competition will run them out of business. And if they expect to either expand or build a new one themselves, they should pay, both because it is good for them, and the right thing to do. There is no way the legislature will allow any changes to the casino with this over their heads. Still amazes me, they have lost almost half a mill. in revenue to keep from paying out $96,000 in rake money. On another note, I did talk to someone who was involved in the transaction on the Madison exit, and Mystic Lake Casino did write the check for it, so I would not be surprised if Mystic announces an alliance with RR and builds on the interstate. I can't imagine Mystic would not want this settled soon.

Arter,
Im all for you guys getting paid your money and I was even there that night playing on a different table. Im just curious to where you get your #'s of how much RRC has lost in revenue. Also.........I didnt realize that the reservation went all the way out to the interstate, because it has to be tribal land doesnt it? Have you heard any projected dates for when they want to start/finish building?
Thanks |

All I know is Royal River bought the land on the SW quarter on the Flandreau exit. I know the women that sold it to Royal River. Second, Mystic Lake Casino wrote the check for the SW quarter on the Madison exit. The is the Prairie Junction convenience store. As far as reservation land, the Santee Sioux do not have to build only on present reservation land, they can exchange reservation land for other land, and canvert it to reservation land. Then build on that. Why would both casinos buy land along the interstate??? I'm sure it is so they can build along the highway. They lose a lot of business by being 8 miles off I-29. I still don't understand why they will not pay. They are losing thousands to protect $96,000 that is not theirs, and will have to be paid out sometime anyway. On top of that, it they do not pay soon, we all plan on contacting our 2 Senators and one Representative, as well as all the state legisture. Sooner or later, they will have to clear this up, and I cannot believe they are unreasonable enough to give up expanding the casino by not paying this. The legislature will not sign a new compact with them with this outstanding. I mean it makes no sense now, but makes less sense to delay building a $50 million casino to keep from paying $96,000. With the new $90 mill. casino being built outside Sioux Falls, it would be in their best interest to close this and do what is best for the casino and tribal members and get their act together before the competition enters.

I guess the Tribal Judge meets with the attorneys in the next 2 weeks. Hopefully, it ends in our favor there. If not, the next step is the papers and the legislature. I would think the Judge would be more fair than the Tribal Gambling commission.

No idea where he disappeared to. I have an alibi though, so I'm pleading not guilty. Seems fishy that after 105,000 hands of poker since the last Bad Beat the manager is dealing and negates it after a drunk yells out something even she admitted she was not sure what he had said. In addition, he had been warned by all the dealers for weeks about talking about the Bad Beat. Where's their responsibilty in protecting us from a drunk player who has over and over put the Bad Beat at risk???? And she and the other dealers admitted whatever he said happened after the Bad Beat was dealt. In any true court of law, a jury would have found in our favor in a matter of minutes. I think they thought this was going away and the Bad Beat was going back up on the board the next week. This happened the day before the Super Bowl, so it has been almost five months that the Bad Beat and all the Mini-Bad Beats have been frozen. And at the hearing, even the casinos lawyers were in favor of paying us, now the manager is in favor of paying us, but one tribal member is holding out, and that's whats keeping this going on. In all fairness, the $96,000 should be paid, and the whole situation put behind us and the casino. It would benefit both parties.
