I was playing Saturday night at the Royal River Casino in Flandreau, South Dakota. The Bad Beat is $96,000. I was dealt QQ, and bet. Everyone folded except the guy across from me. The flop is AQ7. I bet, he bets. Next is a Q. I now have 4 Queens, and bet. Anyway, at this point, the player to my left, who folded before the flop, yelled, "Go Bad Beat". They have a rule about no talking about the BB. Next card was a 3. The other player showed AA, and we won the BB(you need A's over 10 full house beat by 4 of a kind or better. We were excited as you would expect, but the dealer said she heard soomeone say bad beat, and they are trying to nulify it. For me it would be $24,000, the beat player would get $48,000, and the rest would split. They have stopped the BB until a decision is made by the SD Commission of Gaming, which hopefully will be tonight some time. Any quesses on the decision???? Has anyone heard of a BB being disqualified for a non-participating player talking?????

That sucks. I think that it is ridiculous that they don't want to pay because someone that wasn't on the table yelled it out. Now if it was someone on the table then that sounds ok..Like egging it on just to call to see if the table could collect the BB. But someone not on the table is ridiculous. I think you should get it but it is up to the Gaming Commission. GOOD LUCK!!

if someone besides the people playing the hand said it....it should still count, you have no control over that

It shouldn't matter who said it. The payout should still stand. If someone didn't know any better (as it sounds like here) that won't change what cards the players are holding. Who the **** is going to lay down an A's over Q's full house anyway with a bad beat jackpot at stake??

If the decision is not to pay the jackpot out after that mistake, then I would make sure that's the last mistake that moron ever makes. Evil or Very Mad

I wouldn't be surprised if the guy who said "Bad beat" isn't a casino plant. That is so unacceptable to be discussing the hand at all when he's not involved. If he doesn't get in serious trouble I'm smelling a major rat.

I know I sound extreme, but I don't trust anyone. Especially considering the dealer just knocked herself out of a substantial tip. Why would she do that? Maybe because she knew the guy is a rat!

Hell-fire! I think I'm more upset than you are!

If he's not a rat, than there is some serious correction needed for despoiling the Earth with such a complete asinine, moronic, big-mouthed loaf.

Stories about people getting stomped on by city-hall or big-business just get under my skin! If the 'state' commission does anything but uphold the casino's position I will be flabergasted....

If you don't come out of this with some monies look for a lawyer willing to work pro-bono. Of course he would get the biggest share in the end. Rolling Eyes

Thanks for the posts. They are still discussing it tonight, so no decision yet. They have had to put the bad beat on hold for the last two days, so you would think they would try to get it done soon so poker can start again. I'm getting the feeling the longer it takes, the better it is for us. But again, I've thought players were bluffing, and they had pocket Kings, so what do I know.

Here's the reason why it's not a plant: The casino has nothing to gain by not paying the jackpot. You see, the jackpot is going to get paid eventually, right? That money WILL get paid to somebody. It doesn't belong to the casino. It's basically money that is on reserve.

For this reason and many other reasons, you will almost certainly get paid. I wouldn't be worried at all.

If for some reason you don't get paid, take it to a lawyer. In fact, I would have already lawyered up by now.

I did talk to a lawyer today. He said if they do not pay, he can put on an injuction to keep the BB money from going back in play until a court can hear the case. At least that would give me some time to figure what to do. I'm hoping it does not get to that.

yeah....theres gotta be pleanty of witnesses.....theres no way the casino can win this....if they wanted to throw enough money at it to win, it would cost them more than the jackpot

What the hell difference does it make if some newbie/moron at the table blurted out something or other? Yeah it is bad form/against the rules to talk about a hand you're not involved in but that doesn't change the fact that there was a bad beat at a bad beat jackpot table.

Yeah, the moron/newbie should be given a penalty, but how is it the fault of those actually playing the hand?

I just don't see anything to decide here. If they in fact have a rule that prevents you and the other guy from collecting the jackpot not only should you hire a lawyer, but you should bad mouth the poker room to everyone you know in an effort to close them down.

four days now and they are still discussing it. the bads news is the state gaming commission informed me they are going to let the casino decide our fates, so it's on the tribes shoulders.
