What an interesting story. If there's one thing I despise, it is large coorporations and companies taking advantage of their financial and political powers to stiff the little guy. Having spent a few months merely browsing the forums, this is the first thread that has prompted me to join the discussions and respond. I truly hope that this situation is resolved in your favor without the need for an attorney. Good luck to you.

Sure makes me want to patronize an Indian run casino. Problem here is there is no Regulated Gaming Commission as in say Nevada or New Jersey. I wish you the best of luck in pursuing this.

The Santee Sioux Tribal Gaming Commission has accepted our appeal and will have a hearing in 2 weeks. In the meantime, the Bad Beat has been froze for the last month which can't be good for the poker room. Hopefully the commission will be fair and pay-out, which would be good for us, and the casino.

Had the gaming commission hearing on Saturday. Very pleased at how nice the commission was. We'll see if that translates into payment or not, but it seemed like a fair exchange of thoughts. They will let us know in 10 days.

Let me be the first to admit that it should be paid out. I am just irate over how the rumors are spread. I heard that Arter was spreading rumors of the casino not having the money, which is hogwash! The BAD BEAT is a player funded jackpot in which the casino cannot touch they money what so ever. It is not like Enron you ignorant fool. The casino holds the money until it is awarded. The nine player that were involved in the bad beat situation had an awkward situation where the manger was not suppose to be dealing. Out of all the people, " the manager" is the one who must uphold the rules. The rule itself is a little vague and needs to be rewritten but there are other rule that I am pretty sure arter broken, such as showing his hand to the player who actually said "bad beat" which in itself makes his hand dead. Lets bring to the attention the poker dealers who work there. I know for a fact that they are very nice dealers, I hired them myself and if you know me than you would know that I am not in favor of the casino since they canned me but reading this bother me a little bit so I had to find out the inside info. Now, about the dealers, when a bad beat hits they usually get a tip. I know after this whole situation is resolved, weather you get your money or not, the dealers who work hard to make that room a nice friendly place is going to get squat. The guy who won the 48K is a jerk also and so is his "high profile" lawyer who had to step down from being a congressman because he "accidentally" killed a man running a stop sign. A lawyer who doesn't follow rules, go figure. I even heard "the jerk" tried to bribe the dealers to be on his side with a pizza party as if they had a say on who gets the money or not. The casino was just trying to follow rules, and trust me, they really do. What about the other forty or so people who knows that the rules were broken? I bet you some of them invested a lot of money too and are thinking that "hey they broke a rule, they shouldn't get the money and that is that." Are they going to sue to? What happen to the good in people, they seem few and far between now a days. I hope you get your money and enjoy it, maybe you can retire from being an optometrist early and stop spreading rumors about a person who probably had a serious surgery! Rocking RT is OUT!

First, I agree the dealers are all nice. Never had a problem with them, and plan to leave a nice chunk of change to them if we get paid, so they will not end up with squat. Second, the guy in seat 9 did not see my cards. I have never shown my cards to folded players and never will, no matter how bad or good my cards are. Third, this could have been handled better by both the players in the hand and the casino. Hopefully it will be done with one way or the other soon, and the poker room can get back to normal.

If i offended you, I am sorry. It is just a bad situation in general. As to what I am up to, just dealing tourneys here and there. I think I might be going out to Reno, so if you see me stop on by and say hello. BP I know you are a nice guy and hope you do get your money. Later all!

If you as the " former" manager of the card room can't say it I 'll say it for you. F the casino F the dealers and F all of the stupid friggin rulings on the situation. If you want a real and fair down to Earth decision that also includes what is written on the wall it's this..CARDS SPEAK !!! the most F'n fundamental rule in poker, shut the hell up with any interpratation other than the the Beat occured within the requirements of the prerequisate set of hands. Any fool that would like to argue that anything other than the shuffle of the deck in that instance, contributated to hitting the jackpot is a liar, a cheat or an ignoramus him or herself. This is so simple, and casinos and their employees are vastly underrated for the ability to complicate the concept of common sense.

I would like to add - as someone who works in local media -- if they do not pay you, don't stop at card player (which is great) but also contact your local television news station and local newspapers. I would cause a huge stink over this. That is a significant amount of money and it seems completely unfair for them to with hold it. As EJ said, at the end of the day, Cards speak and that should be good enough. Unless you or the guy who took the beat, said or did anything inappropriate - there should be no further issue.

Good luck. It's a sucky situation all around.

Well, the Gaming Commission had 10 days to respond to our appeal from last Saturday. Today it's been 8 days. I'm surprised we have not heard any news. Any guesses on what the answer will be???? Thinks it's good or bad that's it's taking so long?????? Also, thanks for the previous posts. It's interesting to see what the poker world thinks.
