Here's the reason why it's not a plant: The casino has nothing to gain by not paying the jackpot. You see, the jackpot is going to get paid eventually, right? That money WILL get paid to somebody. It doesn't belong to the casino. It's basically money that is on reserve.

There are several ways the casino could utilize and benefit from maintaining and protecting large reserves. Reserve is a financial misnomer. Accountants shuffle assets and liabilities like a deck of cards. (Sorry, couldn't stop myself.)

The folks that lost their life's savings in the S&L debacle - The Enron employees faithfully and greedily using massive chunks of their paychecks to buy shares of stock as valuable as FTP play money - Michael Milken pushing junk bonds like enticement bets - The SSI taxes we pay for the social security 'reserve'! ROFL.... ouuuuch!.. I think I hurt myself... Dammit... Don't get me started...

And as others have pointed out, the marketing value alone is enough to titillate the unscrupulous.

At this point, the event is so bizarre I even question the authenticity or factualness of the OP. The only thing I can truly rely on is my own paranoia...

Just because you are not paranoid, does not mean that they are not out to get you.

I'm the original poster(OP). Go to www.royalrivercasino.com and check the BB amount. The poker room is closed until Thursday night. Call after 2:00 that afternoon and ask the facts. They are as stated. As an update, another meeting is this afternoon, and they say a decision will be made. I'll let you know when I find out. If I get paid, happy day. If not, my lawyer has will do his best to collect. Luckily the guy who won the $48,000 is a well to do business man, and he has his lawyers ready to jump if the money if denied.

what a joke. casino rules can be so easily manipulated by the casino themselves, it makes you wonder. gambling in general is such risky business. i really enjoy playing poker here and at a local casino and am lucky enough to be able to have a little exspendable cash. but i could not imagine having to live the life of a pro gambler and have to deal with shady people and shady places day in and day out, where ethics are a figment of imagination. i hope they do the right thing and pay you guys.

Things are getting even more strange. Now they are saying it may be 30 days for a decision. So, in between time, the Bad Beat is called off, which loses them business. There is bad blood and bad publicity for the casino. They are screwing regular people out of money. And all this for money that they could pay out, that is not even theirs!!! It's pulled out with the rake. I seriously don't get it. Tomorrow they open at 2:00P.M. for regular play. If you don't believe this is true call the Royal River Casino tomorrow and ask for the poker room. The number is 1 800 833-8666 or 1 800 234-2WIN. On a good note, Bluff Magazine called and said they would like to do a story on this whole thing if we don't get paid and lastly, the guy I beat out and should be getting $48,000, just hired a fairly high profile lawyer in this area, and maybe he can push things. Odd indeed.

I was also in the hand that is in question and I'm getting a little annoyed about how long this is taking....they are holding our money ransom basically. Once they finally figure out they need to pay us, they better be throwing some more onto the top of it in the forms of comps at the casino/hotel. I also like how they told me they would stay in touch about it, but the only time I can get an update is when I talk to the guy that had the full house...he seems to be calling me soon after he gets any information.

arter49....any idea why we had to submit a statement? I used the one you sent over to Bill to make sure our stories matched. Keep us posted if you hear anything.

Oh, you are so funny Waldo! You better read my previous posts on this.

Tom Arter49,

Please don't take it personally when I said I had doubts about your post. There is nonsense on here sometimes. I question everything.

I am very anxious to see this resolved in your favor. Like I and others have already said, there is enough money involved to get a lawyer. I would love to see that fruitcake-headed dimwit with the big mouth deposed! I still think he's a casino rat!

snowman315, which seat were you in????? I earlier sent a statement to the lawyer Bill had mentioned. He is one of the best in the state. I think this will be in our favor in the end, I just really don't get it. The good publicity of a table hitting the bad beat is good, and the secondary bad beat pot is over $25,000, so even if they pay it out, the new bad beat is big enough to bring players in. Time will tell, but this is not good for the casino.

I just wanted to write a Thanks!!! to all of you fellow poker players who have posted in support. It's tough enough to make a few bucks in this game, without having that once-in-a-life hand taken away from you.

Bad news. Got a letter saying they will not pay. F/n indian casinos. I will never step foot on one again. I'll see what a lawyer can do, but who knows what can be done on the reservation.
