river, I appreciate you giving them a call and posting the response. I also appreciate all the posters and their opinions. I think if Royal River pays, this is a plus for all poker players in that other casinos will know that honest wins should be paid, or bad publicity and loss of income from the poker room will follow. Like I have said before, it's tough to make money against other players, let alone trying to beat both the players and the casino.

I went to Vegas from June 25-July 1. I played in Caesars Megastack Tournament and then ran into some nice cash games, so ended up not playing in the WSOP. Even though the poor economy has hit Vegas, there seemed to be no shortage of poker players. Think, the Bad Beat happened on Feb. 2, so it's been over 5 months. I hear Royal Rivers poker room might as well be closed due to the lack of players, and the Bad Beat and mini Bad Beats being frozen. I could understand their desire not to pay of there was cheating or something else going on, but this was won fair and square, with any words that guy said being after the cards were dealt. They have lost a half milion dollars to protect money that they'll have to pay out some day, so I don't get it. They are hurting the Tribal members more than anyone. Either they don't see that, or are being stubborn. Hopefully it will resove soon. Have you been playing at all?????? Been to Flandreau???? I miss playing there, but won't return unless they pay. Otherwise, I'll wait until the new casino near Sioux Falls opens or head up to Canterbury Downs.

I have not been back since our hearing and like you I don't plan to go back until they pay. I haven't really been playing that much, just a little online here and there. I agree, hopefully they come to their senses pretty soon.

I heard that there was another qualifying bad beat hand dealt up at RR. Too bad we have it frozen right now. Probably cost the guy that had Quad King's 30K or so. He got beat by a Royal Flush.

Wow, cant believe the fools wont pay

OK its 96 grand but that is chicken feed to what they are losing in not only revenue terms, but in goodwill and customer relations

being in the UK this would have been sorted asap by legislature that covers the whole country and not left to the descretion of pig headed stubborn tribal brothers

really hope it all works out in your favour, but fear that they seem like they have set there stall out and refuse to be moved, regardless of how insane their actions have been/are.

Good luck

That is the second BB that has been hit since the BB and mini-BB's were frozen. A Royal Flush beating 4 Kings, and instead of the 4 Kings getting $30,000, he loses the pot and that's it. Heard the table was very pis*ed off, and telling the casino to pay those players(who hit the BB fair and square after 110,000 hands) and get on with it. Again, losing goodwill and half a million to protect $96,000 that has to be paid out sometime. This happened on Feb. 2. About four weeks ago they were served by the Sheriff with the lawsuit. This week they are being given a 20+ page brief that they have to answer. It will probably take 1-2 months to answer that. Then the Judge has to hear it. If he turns it down, it has another 1-2 years of appeals left.

I was playing Saturday night at the Royal River Casino in Flandreau, South Dakota. The Bad Beat is $96,000. I was dealt QQ, and bet. Everyone folded except the guy across from me. The flop is AQ7. I bet, he bets. Next is a Q. I now have 4 Queens, and bet. Anyway, at this point, the player to my left, who folded before the flop, yelled, "Go Bad Beat". They have a rule about no talking about the BB. Next card was a 3. The other player showed AA, and we won the BB(you need A's over 10 full house beat by 4 of a kind or better. We were excited as you would expect, but the dealer said she heard soomeone say bad beat, and they are trying to nulify it. For me it would be $24,000, the beat player would get $48,000, and the rest would split. They have stopped the BB until a decision is made by the SD Commission of Gaming, which hopefully will be tonight some time. Any quesses on the decision???? Has anyone heard of a BB being disqualified for a non-participating player talking?????

Yup, 6 months and no decision. It would be one thing if they were stalling to keep from paying us, but it costs THEM about $80-100 thousand per month in poker room losses and tips to the dealers. You just have to ask Why???? Why would you take 1/2 mill. in losses over 6 months, plus the lawyer fees, plus the hearing costs, transcripts, plus the bad publicity, etc. to protect $96,000 that is the players, and is going to be paid out sometime anyway???? If you are wating for an answer, I have none. Royal River Casino was given the brief last week, their lawyers have to answer all the questions on the brief, then we look at the answers, and after that, it goes to the judge, who again looks over the info, and makes a decision, which could be another 3-4 months. So, we'll know by the end of the year??????? or they could just decide, the players, after 110,000 hands of poker, won it fair and square, pay, and get on with the business of poker. Odds of that?????
