Just started playing Omaha and have a question about using two cards. Had TJQK on the board and split pot with another guy with an Ace. Hand before had four diamonds on board including the Ace and King. I had Queen of diamonds and lost to 3 of a kind. Can someone explain this to me? I know...go buy a book on Omaha. But I'm curious now.

When there are 4 suited board cards, you are only using 3 of them, which means that you must have 2 in your hand in order to have the flush.

Just remember that your 5 card hand will ALWAYS be 3 board cards & 2 pocket cards.

Okay, that makes sense on the flush hand. Except when applied to the results from the other hand. So confusing.
If you HAD to use two cards, I would've had top two pair (KQ) on the broadway hand. where he would've had second two pair (QJ) (Obviously discounting the ace which we both had also).
How does it work where you only use one card for a nut str8 and not for flushes? Because the HH said that we split the pot with Ace high str8 (Meaning that only one card is playing). If you have to play two cards, wouldn't I win with higher two pair and the str8 be moot?
I know, read an Omaha book. It wasn't for a lot of money though, just 25 bucks, but I'm still foggy on this. English, not Math major.

you only mention his Ace because thats what stood out but i assure you he had a 10, J, Q, or K as one of his other cards. you may not remember it but its true.
