Say I have a 200 dollar bankroll, my buy-in should be 5% right? Should I buy in with 10 dollars in a 0.25/0.5 game? 0.5/0,1 game? or 1/2? The more blinds I have, the less luck is involved in the game, but then again, it's 0.25/0.5, and a lot of people will call with a King showing, and then somehow get a wheel in the end. What would you do?

Ha!! if someone is dumb enough to call a completion on 3rd street with a K showing they are going to lose all their money!! On the .25/.50 tables 10 dollars is fine to start with especially as it is limit. I think the minimum is 5$. If you play tight and smart you will double that in no time, with just a little luck on the draws....

I don't understand what you are saying when you say having more blinds then less luck is involved, Razz is dependant on having good draws, outdrawing your opponent, luck all around and as it is limit you cant bluff em out of the pot very easily.... Count on em having decent stating hands if they get into a pot...proper starting hands are a must in the cash games.
Good luck
Peace

In limit games it's different then NL games. You can use some of the same basic principles, but it's usually a good idea to have at least 500 big bets in your roll. So to play .25/.50 you should have $250. You can usually get by with 350-400 big bets as long as you can avoid a pretty big downswing which is possible with all the loose play.

Since razz is a limit game, there really is no theoretical reason you can't just buy in with your whole BR when you sit down, since you can't be forced to put more of it into play than you want. That may be unsettling for some players, but you should buy in for at least as much as you're prepared to lose in one session should you go on a horrific downswing. The advantage to doing that is you won't run out of chips in a big hand where the opponent is not just calling you with a K showing on 3rd, but raising you Smile

If you're asking how much to buy in to a particular session you should always have enough in front of you to cap every street. In the case of Razz or stud you should have at least 16 Big Bets. For FLHE or FLO or FLO/8 you should have at least 12 Big Bets at all times. You always want to get paid off on your monsters.

when I played FLHE semi regularly, roughly 1200 hands a day for about a month I would buy in for 20 big bets and if I dropped to 10 big bets I'd add on another 10 big bets. If I somehow lost all 30 big bets at the table I'd usually find another table to sit at unless there was some really really horrible players.

With a $200 bankroll I would play 1/2 or 2/4 heads up in razz.
If you can find a fish, the 2/4 can be very profitable.

Probably irrelevant by now, but just to clear things up the min buy in for a razz game is 5 big bets, so for 25/50 its 2.50, and the normal buyin is $5. I dont think more than 10 BB's is necessary (maybe 15 for the reason BigSlick said...but I play razz fairly often and would say I have a hand where every street is capped once in oh...a few months).

As for the OP, I would suggest .5/1, which at a 10$ buyin would be 20 buyins.

to whoever said 2/4 HU, not a chance in hell. Even against a fish... thats too much variance. If you're really iching for headsup, 1/2, but even that could be a stretch with a 200$ BR
