'x' refers to any card, usually below 10. 's' means suited.
Ac3c = Axs |

| AAXX as a low? Sounds too vague. Maybe XX low too (8 or less) |

Phil doesn't specify what XX refers to there. He just says AAXX.
Having AA65 or AA74 really doesn't help you. And lower hands like AA2X and AA3X are already listed, as much stronger hands. |

Lately I've noticed some low hands that gets overlooked a LOT, but in certain situations, can be deadly to your opponents. One such had is A36X. Why? Suppose you flop the nut low, 2 4 5 on board. You now have an uncompromisable low, AND you currently have the nut high hand too (assuming no flushes). Big raises can drive out anyone drawing to a better hand, and of course, the other nut low(s) will call. End result? 3/4 for you.
I like this hand better than A26X, because the flopped wheel 3 4 5 does NOT give you the nut high (unless X = 7).
It doesn't happen very often (holding A36 and flopping the nut low/nut high, with another A3 out there), but it's a great feeling when it does (and and ****ty feeling when you're on the 1/4 end of it). |
