wish i had the luck you all have
Played a Razz tourny tonight, and my 1500 chips lasted about 45 hands, only 1 win cause everyone else folded.
Every single hand went like this
1: got low cards on draw, say anywhere from A-5 4 hands
2: Got trips, 3 8's 3 J's etc 19 hands ( and this is off the draw, not in betting)
3: Got 2 high cards 9-K and a A or 2 off draw The rest!
Would have loved to play, but eventually the annies ate most of my chips, and the 4 hands i did get low cards off the draw, my last 4 cards went to Jacks, Q's, K's . Every single hand i played i couldnt last for nothing, was rediculous.
All the while, watched the player just to my right, and wasnt dealt anything over a 9 all night. Ended up waisting every player on the table while i was there. Watched him get a A 2 3 4 5 , 8! times. Was really starting to get under my skin lol. He went from 1500 chips to well over 7k in about 30 min. This was Limit Razz btw, not NL, or PL |

Sorry to hear that man, Razz is an evil game.
If you try to wait until you have the perfect hand then this will happen.
Razz is a drawing game and is about representing strength. What happened to you is happening to everyone else at the table, trust me.
On the starting 3 you have an Ace showing, but maybe a 9 in the hole, (96)A, go for it if the board allows (on the board there are cards like A,6,8,7,K,10,9). By all means make a stab, maybe you will get lucky on the draws.
Steal blinds at every chance you get. The guy to your left is the bring in with a K showing. If everyone folds to you the complete regardless of your hole cards so long as you are not showing a face card. If one person calls the bring in with an 8 or so then complete it with a good card showing and at least one other good cards.
If your are drawing good and the other players are drawing bad keep on putting pressure on them and bet. Make them sweat about their hand.
You have to get people to believe you have a strong hand, waiting for one will kill you sometimes. Dont worry, you will have games like the other player you talked about at your table where you catch the cards like crazy. |

| you should also post some HH to allow some of the other forum members to help you with your game. Razz is a difficult game to deal with and sometimes you'll just run bad, but there are some little nuances to the game that could be picked up with more experience. Alex is right in that you probably weren't stealing enough when given the opportunity. Playing door cards is optimal for success in razz, not only just playing your particularly strong hands. |

| Theres a Razz Tourny coming up so Ill be sure to try some of your pointers guys, and thanks for a little advice. Im pretty new to the game, so i can stand to learn alot. However when is the stopping point for you guys during hands. Say im dealt a KA 9 showing. Do you go with it? or do you fold it. I tend to fold every hand like that. |

Fold that every time.*
*Unless the bring-in is a K Q or J and everyone folded to you and you're last to act. Then complete but otherwise fold that every time. |

| Under normal circumstances whether in a cash game or in a tourney but with an adequate stack my advice would be to fold this hand on every street. It's not worth playing to begin with but certainly when you hit the Q on 4th it's time to fold. Seeing as you were short stacked though a case can be made to make a stand with this hand. In this case you should be betting/raising every street until you are all in not just calling down. By betting/raising you apply maximum pressure and increase your fold equity. |

You got unlucky, Like I said there at the beggining when you hit your Q on the 4th, you would most likely end up with 9 high at best. Your opponent took a might big chance on this IMO. Why? with a Q showing, he was only playing his board against yours. He will lose in the long run like that. The only way you could have played this better was to get out on the 4th street. From his perspective on 4th street he had four cards un-paired to the 8 and was going to see it to the 7th and likely he did not have to risk much since you had so few chips. When your stack gets down as low as your was your only option is to try to wait until having the best possible starting hand. But, since you were such a low stack not such a bad play overall. The cards did not fall for you. Had he only paired or bricked on the 7th you would have taken down the hand. Tough luck on that one. Raising every street would be good, since low stack but he was not going to fold no matter what, you had too few chips. |

Your play looks too loose passive to me. Lay off the junk hands like (Q-4)-2, and raise with hands like (3-4)-7. Tighten up and get aggressive.
I counted 2 bring-ins for you, 12 calls by you, and not a single bet or raise.
The majority of the winning Razz players that I've seen have an aggression factor (number of raises divided by number of calls) somewhere around 1.0 or higher. They're putting pressure on their opponents, not giving free cards, and giving themselves two ways to win (either by showing the best hand, or by getting their opponent to fold).
In the series of hands that you posted here, I would not have made any 3rd street calls. I would have raised (completed) with the 2 three-card 7 hands, and I would have folded all of the rest. |

| A good rule of thumb for razz is if any of your cards on third street is over an 8 then fold. Of course this changes with position and others upcards etc but in general you don't want to represent hands or call/raise with a Q in the hole. As for those hands. It's not BS it's razz. It's a frustrating game. If you want to play it get used to it. |

| I played in the exact same tourney yesterday. Razz saved me everytime. I boost when it hits razz, i managed to hit first place for awhile when the blinds were 500-1000 due to razz. I busted in like 140th due to some baaaaad runs with holdem and ohm hi-low. I know limit holdem, but ohm-hi/low limit just kills me. I agree with everyone else there, you need to be much more aggressive with razz, if you dont make some steals in razz you will get eaten up. |
