I am not reading any responses to your post, as this is how you should play it: He has AK, AA, KK, QQ, or JJ. neglecting the times when he has KK also, you are dominated by one, dominating the other 3 and if its all under cards theres a very good chance the money will go in post flop.
Your action after his reraise is either call or raise. It depends on the opponent. If you think he'll call an all in with JJ or AK, push in right there. You most likely have the best of it and if you dont, thats why you have a bankroll. If he wont call with any hands that are losing to you except maybe QQ, I'd call, representing you have the AK or a low pocket. You then should check raise the flop if theres no A. If an A hits you might want to let ur hand go depending on the opponent. Checking the flop allows you to get an extra bet from the AK hand and traps QQ or worse. You might trap yourself with AA, but that wont happen as much as many new players fear. |

| see i agree with stevn. If you put a player on AA then you can't go all in with KK. Just because someone has AA and you have KK doesn't mean they have to take all of your chips. Thats the point of NL holdem, to fold when you a low chance of winning. Based on that players stack, the situation, etc, i put him on AA and folded my KK. So i may have made a bad read on him, but i did not make a bad play. I think there is a difference there. Now if my read was wrong, then as you all say i cost myself a big pot there, and i made a mistake. But i went with my insticts. |

| If you are 100% sure that they have AA, of course you fold. But the point it in this case, and in most cases, you aren't putting them on one specific hand, you are putting them on a couple of possible hands and trying to decide how likely each one is. That is why you are better off playing kings like aces. You're going to win more off of the hands you beat than you'll lose on the rare times when you're up against aces. |
