So I'm playing in a Teir 2 SnG ($24+2) with about 1400 in front of me. Level 2 blinds, 20/40.
Get wired 7s UTG. Make it 160 to go and get one caller who had about 1000 in front.
Flop comes 7-A-8 rainbow. I lead out with 300, get raised to 600 and I push all in. He calls and turns over A-9. I'm golden. Turn is an 8, giving me a boat. River is another 8 which kills me.

How's this for a bad beat:
More than 2/3 through a freeroll MTT and I am in the top 30 in chip stack. Get dealt pocket Ks and bet just shy of 3x BB knowing I'll get called by at least two or three players who have had a habit of calling raises "just in case something hits" and do in fact get some callers. Flop comes K-K-A and I'm in heaven. I bet the pot and all but one player folds. Turn is another A, I bet big again, my opponent raises enough to put me all in and of course I called. He turns over Ax (don't remember what his other card was except that is what not a paint) and I am counting my windfall. Naturally, river comes up A, and my quad K's lose to his quad A's.
(Before anyone questions why I bet so big on the turn risking a fold by my opponent, this guy had been betting and calling raises with Ax, Kx, etc. since I got to that table and I knew he wasn't going to lay down anything with all the chips he had already committed, no matter what my bet would have been.) |
