The Crown Hotel and Casino in Melbourne Austraila will host the worlds richest poker tournement next year. Six of the worlds best players will compete for the US$ 80million kitty, with the winner to take all in a series of elimination matches in July 2006.
It is expected Joe Hacshem the Melbourne poker player who won the 2005 WSOP Main Event will be invited to play.
The event will be screened into over 100million households around the world through the Fox Network in the United States and through various other networks in Europe Asia and Australia.
Players will pay US$10million each to buy into the tournement.

| i thought the prize pool was going to be $60 million? i read it off of foxsports.com, so i guess it's only going to a 6 player freezeout instead of 8... |

the buy-in might be $10mill Aussie, which comes out to $80 mill.
I hope most of these guys are sponsored because Hachem only won 7.5 million last year. LOL |

I'd be curious to see how many pros actually have enough of a bankroll to throw down 10 mil on a single tournament. With out sponsors, I honestly don't think many of them do. That is unless they own a majority of google stock.  |

According to ESPN, they said that the players will be named later, but the one for sure they said was playing was.....just take a guess: PHIL IVEY. "Phil Ivey, who has a reputation as one of the world's best Texas Hold 'em players, will be one of the six taking part. Identity of the others will be announced later, Greenberg said, adding that the entry fee for each of the six is $10 million. " I don't even have to know the other people to pick the favorite to win this....
