Hello,
Before I get angry posts back (just in case ) I already did a search in this forum and this does not seem to have been discussed.
Ok, having said that, I have been using PT for about 1 week now and, while playing mainly low limit, I am starting to get enough info on other players to BEGIN to start to rate them. Using the default rules (which seem to actually be pretty good) I can see people moving into general categories.
So, here are the questions:
1) Are the default rules adequate / good at low to medium levels?
2) If not, any suggestions?
3) How many hands, do you think, need to be loaded into the database to get a fairly good picture of them? (I have seen about 50 on other sites)
4) Is anyone getting increased success with blind stealing / decreased blind stealing (thus saving money) based on this info?
5) I have seen some listings for add ons (per google), are these any good and if so, which ones?
6) Insert any useful question and answer for this topic here.
Thanks for the help.

Sounds real good Fammy, although I think you would do better reading the PT forums as much of that is covered unless you have already and couldn't get the specifics you were looking for.
As far as # of hands vs opponents, you need a lot of data to get an accurate picture of an opponent. This is hard to do especially the lower the limit because you are up against a pretty random group at any time. In addition, the number of hands that can be analyzed is reduced or at least the information is incomplete because you don't see their hole cards a lot of the time (i.e. the pot is won by a bet and not a showdown). IMO, there are much fewer "regulars" the lower you go which means you will be up against them so rarely that the data you mine on these dudes is hardly significant.
Around 10,000 hands you will get a decent picture of yourself and after that you will also be able to sort out who you are most frequently going up against and you can sort that list by net winnings or losses.
Avoid or at least don't challenge the players that you are posting big deficits to (unless you don't care about $$ that day and want a challenge) and of course, put notes on the players you are roasting over the coals. Then you know immediately when the table looks in your favor. You can even do searches before you sit down for your favorite calling stations.
Enjoy |

Hey, since you've started a PT thread, maybe someone could help me out. I'm trying to load full tilt hand histories, and always getting the same error message: Unable to get the game number
It's in a wordpad file, text wrap is OFF, I'm not sure what else to do?
I just downloaded the latest patch, and I'm still stuck. Help! I was so excited about PT and now I can't get it to work.
Thanks in advance for any posts |

i dont know if this will work, but open up the FTP screen, click on "options", then click on "Hand History..." Then see if "Save my Hand History" is checked... if it isn't, check it... i had the same problem myself when i first got pokertracker, so i hope this helped... |
