|
|
Ok so i put $50 in my account and went straight to a 2/4 table sat down and within about an hour i had $180 in there, the fish were broke and then a couple other players were sitting down with too much money for me to try battle them. so i went to a 3/6 table and got my stack up to 300 then i left.
My question is how long should this normally take, i know 5/10 was a bad idea drunk because after the day of playing me and buddies drank one thing led to another i was letting my friends play.they lost.
So i am going to put $250 in the account and play some 2/4 how long should or better yet how long did it take you to get $250 into a $1000 or $750?
Sorry for the long first post just wanted to see how long this takes other people.
Ill post on here in a couple weeks and let you guys know my bank roll status.
Thanx

This is a joke right? Your bankroll should be a minimum of 300 Big Bets, preferably 500. If you want to play 2/4, then you should have a bankroll of $1200 - $2000. You got very lucky, and if you continue to play outta your bankroll variance will take the whole lot away.
In groups of 10,000 hands, my biggest swings at the 2/4 level were +$2704 and -$1180. So if you get really lucky, you can build quite quickly, otherwise you'll just be another broke fish who played out of his bankroll and went bust.
If you only want to play with $250 then you can barely play the .5/1 game.
I doubt you'll listen to any of that advice as it doesnt contain the obligatory "You're a star you can do it in no time at all" line, but good luck all the same. |

why the hostility?
This isnt a joke, i have read about bankroll management, and i understand the 5% of my bankroll at a table at a time.
I was asking how long did i take you to get up from $250
I didnt need nor want a response about me playing 2/4 with $50 i was just seeing how long it has taken some of you guys.
thanx for the response tho atleast it was fast.
So 1200 for 2/4?
I am going to give this a try with $250 then switch the the bankroll management if this dissipates fast.
I am going to give it a shot, see if i can do it. thank you for your response little hostile but what ya going to do? |

That post above by fire eyes was 100% true. A player is only as good as his bankroll management skills allow him to be, and like he said, if you continue to play outside your bankroll, you WILL go broke. You seem to want to play for pure entertainment, as the thrill of doubling or tripling your money seems to be your goal. This is fine and all, but only if you realize that you could go broke in two minutes. With proper bankroll management, you may not "entertain" yourself as much as you did sitting with everything at one table, but you will never go broke. |

Because you are roughly the 293rd person who has started a thread based on the assumption that you are going to be rolling in the money after only a few days of playing poker. And that's just the limit forum, in the NL forum it is waaaaay worse.
Here are the basic facts:
A win rate of 1BB/100 is doing reasonably well. 3BB/100 is freaking amazing.
The average win rate is just that, an average. You will have sessions where you are +20BB/100 and sessions were you are -20BB/100.
If you play above your bankroll and run good you'll triple or quadruple your deposit pretty quickly. But this will be unsustainable.
If you play above your bankroll and run bad you'll be broke very quickly.
Playing within your bankroll plan on grinding it out at 1-2BB/100. If you start at .5/1 you'll need to grind out $250 before moving to 1/2 ($500 total) At 2BB/100 this will take you 125*100 = 12,500 hands. |

ok, i might be able to understand the hostility...i understand where you guys are coming from, it makes sence. Its either get lucky or broke, rather then lose a buyin and being comfortable enough where that doesnt effect your play.
I will try putting $500 in there in a couple days and playing 1/2 see how it goes.
thanx
