Here's the setup-live game. Dealer's choice. On stud and wild card games we play $1-5 spread limit, 3 raise max. On flop games it's no limit.
Noone is sitting real deep. Blinds are $1-2. 5 handed. UTG raises to $5. The entire table calls. Flop comes K J 10 two diamonds. BB bets $10. UTG moves all in for $63. There is $98 in the pot and you have a set of 10s, no diamonds. Do you call? |

| no. someone most likely has a straight and seeing how someone else bet out, this possbily means that he has one or more of your pair cards you need to hit your full house. not to mention the chances that someone could also have a higher set. but an easy omaha fold. |

+1, easy laydown at this point. |

| I would like to think it was an easy laydown too as I raised with AQJ5 suited A. I flopped the str8 and my raise got 2nd nut str8-2 diamonds to fold, but not bottom set who hit his J on the turn, and even though I was redrawing to a higher boat, I bricked. |

How experienced of an omaha player was he? If he usually only plays holdem, of course he is going to call. |

| I would need at least top set to even consider calling. He or she could also have KK or JJ. They might also have 2 pair with some kind of flush and straight draw, making a paired board useless to us, unless it's the T that pairs. Even with good odds I don't like a call here. |

I wrote about this guy before where I check raised with top two from OOP and he called and caught a better two pair on the turn. He overplays his hands and bluffs too much. I've told him he's never going to outplay me, but I get unlucky sometimes. |

So what does craigo6x really want his opponent to do?
He flopped the nut straight and got lead into. By going All In the only people who call should split the pot with him or have top set and a bunch of outs to the flush and boat. Worse yet, they have the straight and a draw to the nuts.
Wouldn't he be better off raising just enough to make it wrong to draw against him? Or is a $63 stack just not big enough to do that? Remember, there was a $25 pot and a $10 bet.
Would making it $35 to go be enough to do that?
Also, do you fold if you make it $35, get called and the board pairs and your opponent (who has shown a bluff in the past) bets into you? |

Excellent questions Buz.
The problem with playing any NL game when everyone buys in short is the inability to protect your hand.
Clearly if he called the $63, he'd be calling the $35.
Once the J paired I couldn't fold my hand because I held a J so even if I knew I was beat, I'd still be drawing to a bigger boat.
My problem with this player is not his tendency to bluff (which I took away from him by moving in). Its his tendency to overplay his hands as he did here. He never considered I might have top set or some made hand with top set or top two. He called with bottom set and even when the board paired, he didn't know if he was good. |

| Easy laydown. You have no re-draw and you're probably IF NOT ALWAYS beat. You might not even have the highest set, which means you could be drawing to a 2 outer, or quite possibly dead... |
