Is it possible to calculate odds without knowing what the other person has? I've never really understood how to calculate hi-lo hands anyway.
Was thinking about this hand for a while:
I had A 3 4 5
The flop was J 6 2
The turn was Q
I was in this hand with one other person and he was betting out the entire time so I'm sure he had a somewhat respectable hand. So what are the odds at this point that I hit one of my numerous outs?
7 5 4 2 or 3 would guarantee me the high pot. More than likely any other spade, too. Possibly any heart as well, and possibly any 3, 4, or 5 for a straight.
Any ace, 3, 4, 5, 7, or 8 would give me at least a tie for the nut low, right?
Now that I'm thinking about it maybe I don't have as many outs as I think because I was counting hi and lo outs separately.
As you probably guessed, I hit a brick on the river and folded to a substantial bet without finding out what my opponent had. |

Let's see. First off, you should be jamming this pot from the flop on. On the turn you have this for draws:
Subtracting any paired cards:
14/44( 32%) to make a straight or nut flush or nut straightflush and either 2 blockers to a higher heart flush. plus an additional 6 outs for the nut low(45%) or
20/44(45%) for the straight and two flush draws, plus 4 more outs for nut low(54%).
I don't think an instance would arise where you don't call here, let alone raise. Like I said in the beginning, you were hopefully jamming this hand. |

Thanks for the response, I was thinking this forum might be dead.
I'm too lazy to dig up the HH, but as I remember it in my head (I've been replaying it over and over), it went something like this: he bet the pot on the flop, I reraised the pot, he called. He bet about 3/4 the pot on the turn, and I just called. The river was the 6 which was obviously a terrible card. He bet a little more than 1/2 the pot, essentially putting us both all in, and I folded. What can I beat? |
