Not sure if the preflop call was good, but I'm trying to see a lot of flops to get some practice and get a feel for the game. I decided to just call the min raise on the turn planning to check/raise the river since he probably hit trips or a flush. How many mistakes did I make on this hand (probably a lot would be my guess)? |

You overplayed your hand in two spots where you should have slowed down: the turn and the river.
The check-raise on the river, to me, was insane. Small boats like yours are routinely beaten by bigger boats in any type of Omaha/Omaha 8OB game, so once that board paired, let alone once you were raised, alarms should have gone off in your head telling you to slow down and muck it.
On top of that, you had no draw to a low; in this game, you want to be drawing to both the High and the Low so that you have a chance to scoop. Drawing to only one or the other is a quick way to burn through your money. |

Do you think a min-raise OTT means quads or 9s full more than it means trip 2s, 2s full, or a flush? I thought that out of all the hands in his range, only 2 specific hands beat me (99 and 22). OTR, only KK is added to the short list of things that beat me and there is no low possibility, so am I really supposed to be worried about those 3 hands more than the many others that I beat (32, 92, K2, A2 or a flush)? Don't you play their range rather than just naming the things that beat you?
As far as playing hands with scoop potential, should I be limiting most of my starting hands to ones with good hi/lo potential, or is it ok to play the ones with good high potential as long as I'm wary of the low draws out there? (obviously my hand in this situation was crappy no matter how you look at it, but for the future...) |

| Yes, you should have mucked PF. You can play good high only hands, but you should always reevaluate on the flop. If there are two low cards on the flop, I will rarely continue w/ my high only hand. Usually only if I hit top set, or nut flush draw. As far as your hand after the flop, I don't like your flat call OTT. If he has a low draw, you are giving him a free card to try and hit it. I would probably push OTT, pricing out a low draw. I think KGB's advice is too conservative, it is much more likely he has trip twos, or twos full, than 9s full or quads. |

| Calling OTT was pretty stupid now that I look at it. At least I know someone agrees that his range included at least as many worse hands as hands that beat me. Thanks for the advice, I'll get it one of these days. |

Fold pre-flop; it's a horrible O/8 hand.
That being said, you did say that you want to see a lot of flops, and you only had to pay half to get there, so I guess that's okay.
If it's me, I pot the flop, then I pot the turn. If he raises me on the turn, I repot. The way I figure it, 9-9 wouldn't have flat called the flop with straight, flush, and low draws out there, and if he has 2-2, I guess I'm going down in flames.
On the river, I probably lead out for about 1/3 pot, and if he comes over the top, I'm just calling -- I only have the fourth nut hand and I figure that a substantial 3-bet is only getting called by one of the 3 hands that beats me. |

| Raise the turn. Check raising river will only get called (or raised) by a hand that beats you. |
