Was reading online that Joseph Hachem signed w/the Willam Morris Agency. I think thats great for him, but have any of the big name commercial players been placed in advertising, tv, etc that isn't directly related to poker? Seems like Phil Gordon w/the Celebrity Showdown is the closest , yet its still directly related to poker.(I used that example because its not a standard ESPN, WPT, FSN type show, more outside the realm of the major poker world.) Hachem seems to have a charisma that many recent champs don't have, that could lead to some non poker related events. It'll be interesting to see what it can lead to and if he can make that jump.

I think signing with the William Morris Agency was a great move for Hachem. It seems that most of the poker players have signed with Bill Balstraugh's agency (SP?). But their endorsements only seems to hit on the poker industry and nothing outside of poker. William Morris probably has a lot more contacts outside of poker where Hachem's image could be profitably exploited. Who knows...maybe we'll see a poker player on a Wheaties box very soon. Or how about in a deordorant ad. Hey, there's even Paxil and Zocor who need famous representation. Razz

People who don't follow poker religiously don't have any clue who Joseph Hachem is. They don't really know who any of the pro poker players are. This would be the main reason you don't see them advertising outside of poker related endorsements.

I understand your point about non poker followers not being familiar w/a Main Event winner, but with the growth in popularity and when I see the winner of "Survivor" or "The Apprentice" in an advertisement, I feel it is in the realm of possibility to see Hachem represented as a part of todays pop culture. I would think there is an even stronger possibility of it in Australia. Also, I could be completely wrong. Smile
