Not a great hand, but I figured I was getting great odds to limp along.

On the flop and turn, I figure I'm good for high since they would have to have a set to beat me, which was unlikely since my hand matched the board. I figured they both flopped a low draw which they hit on the turn. On the river, the only high hands I have to worry about now are top 2 or a set of jacks (still unlikely) so i decided to let them both fight over the low hand. Did I overvalue my hand here (very possible coming from a holdem background)? |

Short answer: Yes
Don't make the mistake in Omaha of thinking no-one has a set just because it's unlikely. 2-pair is a below average hand in Omaha and set-over-set is a pretty common beat too. I would probably play on from the flop because your 2P could be good and you have boat draws - but by the river action I'm definetly getting out of there. |

Even though the flop looks nice, to your hand, it's not really. You have little to redraw to, virtually no low and slim redraw for high(I say slim because the board cards are typical cards to see in a playable hand, therefor several outs are likely gone). UTG these are difficult hands to continue with, that's why it should really be folded from the sb.
As played, potting it will not lose an A2 or 45, it will just build a bigger pot for you to continue with OTT. Any A, 2, 5, 6 falls and it's check/fold. You have 1 of 3 options IMO. Half pot it to keep things small. Probably do this least often. Then there's check/call and see what the turn brings. May even get a free card out of it. I'd probably do this a little more frequently than leading out. Then there's check/raising. I like it alittle better than the other two, but not too much more. Whatever calls, your likely racing, possibly for just a quarter of the pot.
OTR you came upon a difficult situation that is the basic reason for folding in the first place. The key to PLO8 is making correct decisions preflop and most importantly, on flop. If you see the turn, you're likely going to see the river. Think ahead to what situations could present themselves and if it's really worth getting involved.
Edit Note- Always consider what cards are likely in play. If there are alot of limpers, there are likely alot of wheel cards burned, meaning less to draw to w/hands lwith 345's |

| I guess I figured I was in a good situation since they would have to have the last 2 Ks, 8s, 4s, or 3s in the deck to beat me on the flop or turn. O well, I'm learning. |

| Two pair pretty much suck multi way with no redraw. In position they can play a little better, but OOP they are rough. When completing in the SB, your standards should be closer to your UTG range of hands. |

Don't get me wrong, I don't like 2 pair multi-way in O8 either. It was more the fact that I took 1 out from each possible set by the turn (meaning they would need the last 2 in the deck to beat me), I had 6 outs on the flop and 8 outs OTT to improve to a boat, and on top of this nobody played back on either street.
But OTR i agree that I should have gotten away when some new possibilities emerged and I didn't improve. I guess next time I'll play that differently. |
