I'm actually surprised the other guy played 6s w/ a dead 6, and at first thought maybe he only had two pair or something. By the end, though, I knew he had 3 6s. Anyways, the question. Would you push early like I did, or wait until later streets? Why? Usually I might wait until later streets, but I figured I didn't have to since we were making the big bets on 4th. My action got killed a little later since I pushed early. No more than 2 bets on any other streets. Also, would you check the river, hoping that other guy would hit his flush, and you could check raise, for two bets from each of them, or would you just bet out, knowing you'd atleast get the call from the other guy, and maybe a raise from flush if he hits, but probably not. |

I think you played the hand perfect. By completing 3rd you are simply representing a pair of aces, so when you catch the Q it seems relatively harmeless. Whenever you can represent a hand that is weaker than what you really hold, your in awesome shape. Pushing hard is the right thing to do, although i am basing that solely on the limits i play (.50/1.00) where players call with everything. I don't know how much better the skill level is at your limits. If its a super tight table, i may slowplay until 5th.
I don't think i would try to check raise the river. Your board isn't paired, but you have been pushing hard the whole way, and i think your opponents may be inclined to check down even with a str8 or flush. The pot is huge, and if you bet the river you surely will get called by very weak hands such as two pair. |

I doubt I would have checked the river either. If either hit a monster hand on the river, they may very well raise you, then you can re-raise. W/ the dead 6 as you mentioned, no hand could beat you, so I'd lead right out... especially since you showed so much aggression earlier in the hand, they'll most likely check behind you.
Now, what I'd like to know is if you let out a big DAHHHH when the ace hit on the river? |

It's fine. I wouldn't wait until 5th with concealed big trips here when one guy obviously wants to get into a raising war and you have the double bet in effect.
Nicley done on catching full btw, thats where I struggle and find that Mr Fishy chasing his straight has beaten me.
Meh.
Check-raise is a no no.
Firtsly they may check behind which would be sensible for them given the action on previous streets.
Secondly if they bet and you raise, they could find a fold easily. (I say this of course knowing that at 2/4 they'll probably call anyway.)
This means you're risking a check down to win what is only likely to be 1BB. Betting out secures you at least 1BB and 3BB in the case that you're raised and can repop it. |
