This is the first time in my entire poker life that I've seen someone not a pro and not at a $1243214214 prize pool tournament lay down KK.
I was at the local casino (Ocean's 11 for anyone in socal), and playing at the $2/$3 NL table. A player made it $50 to go utg. Now, that itself is pretty ridiculous, but what happened next was probably the sickest laydown I have ever seen.
I was in the cutoff with AA. I push all-in for $164. Now I know some people might say "you should've just doubled the raise" or whatnot, but I was pretty short stacked, and I wanted all the money in preflop. And hey, he raised $50 utg and I only reraised $100 more, who the hell wouldn't call with JJ QQ KK AK, etc, especially at the $2/$3 NL table.
His exact words after some thought were "I've put this down thousands of times" as he flipped over KK.
Very humiliating. For me. Probably one of the most demoralizing events at the poker table. |

| He's obviously a terrible player. He probably makes a lot of really bad folds. |

That's exactly what my friend and I were thinking. He made 2 great moves, but I think they were both coincidences. One being the KK laydown to my AA and the other was when he pushed on a raggedy flop with AK and made a player with an overpair fold.
Must've been one lucky day for him. |

That's pretty bad poker IMO. Lets look into this:
When someone raises 15xBB, who is he expecting a call from? I know I wouldn't call such a raise without AA or KK without a strong read on the guy.
So, 99% of the time, he'll be stealing the blinds and making a tiny profit with the second best hand in poker. What a waste.
The other 1% of time where someone has AA or KK (not likely but I've seen it happen), he doesn't just call this raise, he reraises right? And what does this guy do? He folds for a loss of $50. |

Don't forget, this is a live $2/$3 table - a raise to 15 BB is probably fairly common, although something like $25 is probably more standard.
OP, you played it fine - you should never just double the raise, all in is the only move you had there. His fold is awful. |

| Horrible fold for him IMO. I've played at Ocean's 11 as well...same game. That is a crazy overbet PF. I know it's frequently 6 BBs but $50? Damn. I hope your session went well after that. |

Right after I posted, I considered editing my post to qualify the 15BB raise with "unless that seems to be a common raise at the table". |

| Sorry I dont understand, you had AA and he had KK you raise all in and he folds KK. Why was that a bad fold for him? subiime had a better pocket pair and would have most likely doubled up off the guy. Why was it a bad fold? |

Well, of course if he knew for sure he had AA, then it would be a great play but you can never know for sure can you? The money he saved this time by folding is a lot less than the money he would be making in the long run by calling here against hands like AK, QQ or even JJ that could reasonably be making this play.
His bad play is amplified IMO (as I mentioned above) by over betting pre flop. |
