My goal is to not miss bets where possible, and not lose bets where possible.

Should I have bet the river?

I bet the river.. I don't think he would try to CR with a flush after you flatcalled his reraise on the turn and we know its very very very unlikely he has 36, so i put a bet in here. If he does CR you have to call IMO, because he could also be CRing a couple hands you beat.

If he bets the river, i'm just calling.

But the fact that he checked the river leads me to believe that the 2 scares him, which means he can't beat a str8. I would have put him on 2 pair after the river check, and i definitely would have bet.

Yeah I think I would bet that one, as mathman has said, the check would normally mean he can't beat a straight rather than some super fancy move.
