I was playing today and was checking all players at my table to see who is playing multiple games, which I always do, and I was amazed to see someone playing in 6 tournaments concurrently. This "person" has played in every cash tournament of $20 or more today starting around 1100 or 1200, which is around 12-15 games. He/she is currently in 6 tourneys and has made some decent $$ today. I also checked the MTT standings and noticed that this "person" has finished in the top 50 every OTHER month since Jan, but didnt even rank in the top 250 the months in between.
Is this "person" real or a "bot"?
Who can keep track of SIX tourneys simultaneously AND win quite a bit of $$ in most of them?
And who plays full-time every other month? |

MTT's are very high variance, and leaderboards tend to give huge weight toward winning tournaments with with high entry fees (and secondly weighted for # of contestants). For example, the $500,000 guarantee was a $200+$16 buyin and had 3378 participants. If you win that, you would earn 5573.7 points from that tournament alone. Had that tournament had the same number of entrants but had only been a $10 entry fee, the winner would've received only 1200 points.
So if you run good in a few big tournaments, you could easily find yourself on the leaderboard even if you weren't running that great overall. That could easily explain why someone would be on there some months and not other months.
However, many people that play in the big MTT's tend to play in many MTT's at once. It would not be surprising to hear of people that can (and do) play 6 tournaments simultaneously and still do well. You could always compare it to the big multi-tabling SnG players. Some of those can run 20+ SnG's simultaneously for long periods of time and still profit. |

| Lots of online pros play 8 or even 12 tables simultaneously. |

| Anything under 15 or so isn't all that uncommon and there are people playing 30+ profitably. |
