How should I have played this? Fanatic is an absolute crazy. He could have anything. I raised the flop hoping to isolate him or drive out whoever I could. I know my hand wasn't all that strong on the flop but I liked my chances against him.

I don't think this is a good raise UTG. At this level, raises are almost strictly for value, and this only plays well one way. Meaning it's not played for value, typically. I'd probably limp here to see how the flop unfolds. You're almost guaranteed to see other players in the pot and will be OOP during the hand.

High cards can definitely be profitable in O8, but they do play better in position. I don't even have a problem w/value raising them on the button because you get to see all the action on the flop, the texture of the board and sometimes a free card.

After the flop, I like the raise actually(not everytime, but sometimes they are good in this situation). Turn and river were fine.

You need to get the other limpers out. I like playing high hands because if the cards come high you have a scoop. I agree with Z that you are at a disadvantage having to act oop, but once fanatic reraised, you have to cap the action.
