I dwindled down to about 300 chips early on a hand where I flopped the nut straight and had the 2nd nut low, and he had everything in place for a scoop. He pushed it all the way with a scoop pretty much locked. I fought back and was presented with this dilemma.

It's really hard to say. Did he previously bet out big hands on the flop? Make any different bet amounts depending on hand strength? Given how the hand played out, you may be a dog drawing to a J or you could be way ahead right now with him betting Aces up or even the 8's.

I'd generally lead on this flop since I'm not holding an Ace. Occasionally I'll check raise it, but at this point you're OOP w/ a big, but not yet made hand, so keeping the pot small isn't a bad thing. Leading out will also give you an opportunity to gain a bit more info, specifically his reaction to your bet.

He played fairly solid, and didn't call many of my 1/2 or pot sized bets OTF when I raised PF. No piece or draw, he folded.

It just seemed to me that when he bet, he had a hand, when he checked, he was weak.

This was my dilemma, it seems to me that he's fairly strong....I would consider him pushing a draw, but this board has absolutely no draws (at least other than runner runner).

Sorry for the delay....here's the result.

After seeing his hand, I guess I gave him way toomuch respect, and I'm still not sure why he played this hand like he did.
