Thoughts?
The massive overbet on the flop is basically a hope that somebody flopped the nuts (T-9) and so I can get all-in here as a favorite. I'm also favored over just about any other hand which might call here, including most hands containing sets. Plus, most turn cards which give me the nuts (and there are quite a few of them) might also scare off any opponents from putting a lot of money in.
As it turned out, I got it all-in as a 53-47 favorite.
Does anyone else think Villain's call was awfully loose, calling an all-in with bottom set here with no straight, flush, or low draws? If I'm shoving with top or middle set, he's only got one out... As it is, given the range of hands I might push with here, Villain got about the best possible matchup he could have hoped for, and was still an underdog. |

| But he has a set! he has to go all in! Oh wait this isn't NLHE. You just got called by a hold 'em player though. |

| I find it odd how low the stacks are in that game, but regardless, I don't like the open push OTF. People are soooo bad at NLO/8 and you have a great hand. Anyone who is likely to call that bet is likely to call a three bet, or a raise if you choose to CRAI, but I think you aren't allowing people to stick around and throw more in the pot. |

| I can understand your interest in getting it all in on the flop, but as DJ pointed out, I don't think the straight push is the way to go. I think a CRAI would be a little more profitable. You check to villian who bets the pot and there is a chance that you'll get another caller. Your push either is called a by a made hand or usually folded around for no action. The fact that he called w/bottom set is extremely lucky. |
