| Could it since it requires so much post-flop play? |

Well, i dont' think it can hurt you, but being a good omaha player will not necessarily mean you will be a good holdem player.
I mean, ok, you say you are a good omaha player. That means you are intelligent enough to learn the nuances of the game, like understand betting patters, reading the board, calculating odds, etc. Surely, you will be capable of using your intelligence and become the same good player at holdem over time if you really wanted to.
But do not assume that the two games are similar just because the structure is similar. Do not apply omaha strategies to holdem, at least not generally, or you will get crushed.
As you stated, omaha contains so much post flop play (and very little preflop play) Right there is a big difference from holdem. In holdem, preflop choices are much more important (as opposed to omaha) in determining your success, especially in SnG and tourny situations |

Playing different games teaches you to think about each game differently. I've read pros talking about position being more important in PLO than in NLHE (I wouldn't know--I suck at PLO even worse than I do at NLHE). Limit games like LHE teach you about the value of raising bets on the flop to get a free card. It's good to be well-rounded. You never know when something from one game will click into place and provide a valuable insight into another game.
Learn them all. You might find that on top of the learning value, the other games are fun. Sometimes more fun than NLHE. |

this is especially true in my case--i'm a much better PLO player than a
holdem player [although it wil help your LIMIT holdem game somewhat]. |

I ve only played seriously for about 3 years , mostly plo...
my humble opinion is that since plo is a much more complicated game , figuring out odds and situations etc ...that gives u a great advantage when switching to texas ...i ve won a few texas tourneys allthough l hardly ever play the game....
My opinion comes from snooker as well...quite easy to play pool when u r a good snooker player... |

When you play omaha, you gain not only omaha experience, but also overall poker experience.
My idea for a poker tournament was to have a game whose rules are announced at the outset of the tournament. Everyone starts on a level playing field, and learns as they play. Still, though, people with more 'overall poker experience' would be better suited for the game. |

I don't think that it makes you a better NLHE player, the game is very different and if you apply omaha principles to hold'em you'll probably fold the best hand too often.
Having said that I recommend PLO to get away from NLHE, there's more to poker than NLHE, not to say it's a bad game, you should just broaden your horizons. |

I respect your opinion , but there must be several ways to play plo ....
There are ultra-aggressive players out there and mega-patient players as well...there are also players that play specific players in a specific way ...enormous pots go down to a pair of deuces in plo too sometimes ...
Consider as well that most people dont even consider plo before they at least have basic skills on nlhe... |
