| When do you just call the original bring-in, and when do you actually complete? Is there a difference in cash-games and tournies? |

In general, you want to just complete with a 3-card 8 and fold anything worse. If there are a lot of cards out that you need to help your hand, you might just limp and hope to catch good on 4th before deciding to commit any more money to the hand.
I don't play many tourneys, but I think there is a difference. Preserving your stack is an issue, so you might be a little more likely to just limp early in a tournament so you don't commit too much money "blind," where you know you might have to fold on the next card. Later in the tourney, stealing antes becomes more important so you should raise more often. |

| I don't call the bring-in often; I usually complete if I'm going to play. Tight starting hand selection in razz pays off long term. |

I agree completely. You NEED to start with three strong cards.
If you still need three more good cards, you need three good cards out of four. It is VERY VERY unlikely you will get an improvement card 75% of the time. This means [K A] [2] sucks. |

Yes ... guys said is very good advice. I also like to complete a good % of the time if I am going to play that particular hand. although I hate it when hey get dealt [A 2 3] or [A 3 4] or something like that and the next 4 cards are [k 10 2 2] Dosnt make you a happy person... LoL
Hope all this advice helps |

Or you need to find yourself at a passive table, in a stealing position, an unopened pot, with a good door card. In which case, there should be no debate -- you complete. In most full ring Razz games, the steal only needs to work perhaps 1 in 3 tries to make it worthwhile.
I've won hands starting with (2-2)-2 and with (A-K)-A. Those are hands which which you either raise or fold.
I've also won a hand starting with (Q-Q)-Q, believe it or not. It wouldn't have happened if anybody had completed my bring-in, obviously. Instead, the two callers both caught bad on 4th and 5th and checked it around while I caught babies, then on 6th street I caught another baby which gave me an easy steal. In general, you don't want to let the bring-in see 4th street for free. |

| You're right jb, stealing and steal defense is a big part of the game of razz. If you play for micro antes, then you can keep folding waiting for a good or premium hand, but if you play on FTP or in similarly structured games you have to try to win the antes, or keep others from stealing them. |
