To answer griffinlord's question
A-A shouldn't cap betting on the turn and really not even on the flop. K-Q-9 with that many callers, means that J-10 suited is a reasonable starting hand. It is a low limit casino game, so a 3 bet on the flop could be someone overplaying A-K, but the J-10 is a real possibility. I think if opponent 3 bets the flop in that situation, then it's time to I slow down and, at most, just call. I might call a bet on the bricked turn, but that would really depend on my read of the other player. If I called, then I pay off a bet by a straight on the river when I hit the set. Still, if he has J-10, I lose 2.5 big bets where as capping loses 9. Of course I only take 2.5 big bets from someone overplaying A-K, but that's a guy I want around because I'll get his money in the long run.

Not only should you be afraid of JT, you should also be afraid of KQ or Q9 (most likely sooooted). |

first, u were at such a low limit game that you aren't gonna force anybody out regardless of what they have. u will get chased down everytime by people who seem no harm in chasing 1 outers to the river, going for flush draws when the flop was a rainbow, gut shots, etc.
and don't believe that guy who basically said regulars suck. they don't. if you see a guy/girl in a brick-and-mortar each time YOU'RE there (regardless if it's day or night) then assume they do it for a living and have some game about them.
personally, i'd move up in limits. if you had enough money to buy in with a rack ($100), then you should start at the $4/$8 tables -- or even the $6/$12 tables if you're able to play SUPER tight and get lucky with a few double ups. most guys will tell you to wait until you can buy into the abovementioned games with 4 or 5 racks, but there's really no need. besides, do you REALLY wanna sit in a casino for 10 hours at a low limit game, in the hope of a small win? or would you rather buy into a comfortable limit game for what's in your pocket and make moves? if you lose at a higher limit, you go home and enjoy the rest of the evening/morning. a lot better than going home broke 10 hours later at a $2 limit table, tired and frustrated imo. |
