|
|
I'm fairly new and I'm lost in playing top sets against all-in or pot bets.
I have the courage to call the first pot bet, but I rapidly become a coward in calling the next bet when it dosen't hit. I realize that I have ten outs, so the first question is:
How to play my set against a likely made flush or straight on the flop, if at all?
My second question is: Is there any guideline/rule of thumb on the average number number of outs I should have to call to the river on any hand?
Thanks! |

Hey bbbad, I've been seeing you around lately. In response to your 1st question, I almost always strictly play the pot odds per betting round when going against a flush w/my made set, unless I have outs to a nut low as well. Keep in mind whether you're going against a made low that reduces your draw to half the pot. If I have a short set(2's-8's) I'm even a little more cautious.
Regarding your second question, the only real rule of thumb is having close drawing to pot odds, while figuring implied odds potential. |

| You should also know whether you think your opponent is good enough to fold their hand if the board pairs, since this affects your implied pot odds. |
