What can we do to get more people interested in playing razz. I've made a post about how fun it is which got zero response. I'd love to bring in a bunch of new fish into razz wouldnt you!!

After a long layoff I've started playing razz again. I played a heads-up SNG the other night, and I have to admit, it was fun.

I don't think I will be playing $2/4 and $3/6 again, though, for a long time.

I love playing razz, it's one of my best games. Problems I don't play as often simply because it's hard to find a full game or even anyone playing at the levels I like to play. I would bet you if ESPN featured a razz event that you would see a few more players.

70% tilt razz players would be considered monkeys.

it's annoying to play against some idiot calling a completed Jack and now showing JJ on 5th and still outdrawing you.

less those idiots the better. gimmie the fools that play 9's and 8's and think their good =)

No, it just means he doesn't like variance.

In which case, Razz might not be the game for you. Smile

I think the rising popularity of HORSE is helping razz along. And since this year ESPN will be showing extended coverage of the 50K event, they will undoubtedly show some razz.

Apparently the 2004 razz event was televised (I didn't see it), and it wasn't well-received. I heard part of the reason was because the guys at the final table were grumbling the whole time after continually bricking up. Who would want to play a game even the pros seem to hate? Hopefully the game will start getting better exposure after the HORSE event airs this year.

I think people would be more interested if it was called by it's full name, razzle dazzle. Very Happy

In the footage of the 2004 razz event not only were the players grumbling, but Norm Chad was whining endlessly about the game as well. They basically made it the butt of every joke, and I think if the final 3 were a bunch of nobodies it never would have been aired at all. As it was, TJ Cloutier beat out Dutch Boyd and Howard Lederer and star power prevailed in getting it on to the roster.

While I think Norm was being very unfair in his comments, I can't lay all the blame on him as most of the pros DO hate the game. It can be brutal and frustrating at times, but so can any poker game. Are most razz beats really any worse than losing to a 2-outer on the river in HE? No, they just happen more often.

While Razz or any of the Stud games will most likely never reach the popularity of NLHE, especially in terms of a television viewing audience... I think it will gain in popularity over time.

Seems like more and more Razz cash tables are full these days and Event #2 in FTOPS VI is Razz.

actually, i'm taking a break from razz for a bit...
been doing the late-night 1.00 mtt @stars[avg:150-200 players]...
Kinda more of a social gathering, the overlay sucks.
after having bubbled just out of cash my last 2 tourneys,
i've decided to take at least a week off from it.
Not to mention I've been busy with the 1-pt.-a day promo here.

The best way to get people to play razz is probably to convince them that its the easiest game to play. Saying that, I honestly do believe that razz is the best game to introduce someone to poker with. For most today, it begins and ends with hold 'em. But most internet and young players probably play the game much too aggressively (and unnecessarily). Playing a game like razz would slow them down a bit and teach them to actually play poker, and not just hold 'em.

I must admit... the only thing i know about Razz is what I read in the Tiltpoker game help basics. NOT MUCH. I've observed the hands in both real & play money but I've learned the most by reading posts in the forum.

Last night I entered the freeplay. I had a great time that lasted 3 hours. I don't remember where I placed but it was much better than midline. I loved the fast play -- betting. I was never bored. As a matter of fact, the play moved along so fast.... I had a hard time following the flow sometimes. While I played I just tried to remember that 2 highs would blow the hand & folded when then hit. That strategy seemed to work for the most part..... beginners luck? Probably. But that's the kind of game I need. One that requires s bity more luck than deception -- because I'm transparent at hold'em.

I think I'm hooked. Someone mentioned in a post about the idiots who bet on J showing... I was one of those persons. But only if it was my one or two highs.... What's wrong with that? Isn't that OK?

Thankfully, I'm here for the thrill & fun of the gaming. I only play with money I can afford to lose. If I win along the way it's more fun of course but I don't expect to do more than break even.....

Cheers. Very Happy
