i have mad respect for what chris is doing. i've tried a great many of times to build my bankroll from zero, since i can't really afford to be gambling my own money away right now. The best I've accomplished was last month. I went from .48 cents from an Absolute Poker Rebuy freeroll, to $120. Unfortunately, I tend to lose my common sense when I get on a roll like that and I started playing above my head. I was sitting at a table where the pot got to over $500 and I had a straight with a flush draw on the board...of course, I pushed and lost it all. If I could just learn the patience to play within my limits, I probably could accomplish alot more...but that's saying alot, since I can't seem to curb that crash and burn mentality.

Hey, I won $2 in a freeroll a week or so ago, then later that same day
(after a couple of satellite wins) I found myself playing in a tourney with only ~100 people for a $12k winners choice package...

Well I got busted out pretty early with pocket Jacks against AK, 3 low cards on the flop, he went all in I called, he hit King on river.

Anyway I earned 200 FT points for that little adventure which I used to win another satellite to a tourney where the top 100 finishers get a place in FTOPS event #9 (in 2 days... I can't wait Smile

Just goes to show you can have alot of fun and excitement from a small freeroll money finish.

I started with close to zero so I didn't have to use free rolls, but might as well have with how it went early on! But, I have built my BR up to over $1100. I've been close to $1200, but have had a tough stretch lately - they do come! - but expect to bounce back again and maybe hit the $1500 mark in a couple weeks. I wrote a post about it under "stoked about a personal milestone" if anyone is interested in how.
I told my wife jokingly a few weeks ago that I was going to buy a car from my winnings. I think if I stay on this and do it right, I could easily do that. It may be a while, but I'm having fun in the process...

My own little experiment.. 50$ deposit
It's day four and I'm up to about 140$
there has been losses and gains, but I make sure
1. I don't play stakes I can't afford
2. I win some money every playing day
3. I reach my day-goal then quit
4. I play sober and lucidly.

Keep in mind that fulltilt actually pays you up to your deposit within a time-frame, and that money earned should be subtracted from estimated winnings after you've reached your deposit-return cap.
I'm really hoping I can make a few hundred bucks in a month or two I might try free-rolls, I didn't even know there were any decent pay offs on those.

I have a few questions about this experiment.

I'm pretty new to the fulltiltpoker site and I was wondering where I can enter these freeroll tourneys that reward money.

Another question is do you enter these tourneys with play money and win a few dollars?

Once you make your bankroll do you have to transfer funds to a fulltiltpoker.com account or how does that work?

Chris has got some serious patience. But I guess that is why he is one of the best in the world. I'm starting at a bankroll of 50 and trying to do what he is. The freerolls are like land mines. virtually impossible to walk through to get to the money. So there is no way I'm starting at 0 dollars.

That's what I did when I really became serious about it. I started from 1,000 play chips on pokerstars, and sold 1,000,000 for $10. I then transferred that over to Full Tilt through a friend. I also placed very high in a special freeroll, netting a $60 profit (just to prove to myself that it was possible).

I think it is a great way to start building up a roll. It teaches you discipline along the way. Ever since I got money on here through that method, I've never gone broke... I've invested too much.

I guess I will also follow Chris' footsteps. Just finished a full day of online poker by winning an Omahi Hi freeroll and finishing second in the U.S. No Limit Hold Em freeroll giving me $27 to work with.

This really isn't that hard to do, besides getting started.

If you can manage to get that freeroll win for $5, and just go all in with the best hand and be covered to double 11 times, you will have $10,440, I think. Rough mental math.

PL is a good way to go, so that you are not as pot commited pre-river as many hands.
