Does anyone know the odds of being dealt quads? Last night in a sit&go when the blinds forced me all in, i was dealt 8888. Doesn't get much better than that.

The odds of being dealt quads in a five card hand are about 4000 to 1.

Actually, with a normal deck of 52 cards, there are 2,598,260 possible unique five card hands. Of those, 624 of those are four-of-a-kind hands.

By "dealt", I'm assuming you mean you had 4 eights pre-flop, rather than making the quads with the board cards.

I think the odds are about 300000 to 1, or about .00036% . But since it was Omaha, you really only had a pair of eights, because you can only use two of your hole cards to make your hand.

On the other hand...

If you start with a pocket pair, you will flop Quads about 1 out of every 400 times.

If you start with two unpaired cards, you will flop Quads about 1 out of 6,250 flops.

Playing Hold'em, holding A-x, you'll end up with Quad Aces 1 out of every 1418 hands (if you stay to the river). I actually saw it happen in a live charity tournament - and I got paid off by two other players who both held pocket pairs making Full Houses!
