HORSE is a mixed game, which is played as a fixed-limit game on Full Tilt. Each letter stands for a different game, and the game changes every time the level changes in a tournament.
The five games are:
H = Hold'em
O = Omaha High Low (8 or better)
R = Razz
S = Seven Stud High
E = Seven Stud High Low (8 or better)
We don't currently offer HORSE as a side game, because it would be too easy for players to sit out during their weaker games, and only play their stronger games.
We don't currently offer HORSE as a Sit & Go, because there is not enough time between levels, so you might only play a few hands of a certain game before the game changes. |

I would love to see HORSE as a side game, but this is an obvious problem. How is the issue handled by brick & mortar casinos?
The best half solution I can think of would be to have some kind of penalty for sitting out a game, like not being able to sit in until that game is dealt again (for example, if you sit out a round of Razz, you can't rejoin the game until the next Razz round), or having to pay dead blinds or antes when you rejoin a game.
Now that the technology is in place, why not introduce other types of mixed games? Half NL Hold'em and Half PL Omaha is a popular game in Europe ('Round of Each' its called). Surely that would work easily as a cash game?

The obvious solution to this is to change the game every two levels. That way you get enough time playing each game, and the blinds / antes can increase reasonably slowly.
Any more thoughts? |

| in a sit'ngo, b/c of the time constraints, the games should change once every 5 hands... that means 2 games per round, and you should get to all 5 games before the first players start dropping out... |

| Every 5 hands is too quick. With all the games being played limit, you'd have to go on a really bad rush to bust out in the first few levels of a HORSE sit n go. |

| Well it may be difficult to have these as a side game and a sng because of the time constraints but as for larger tournaments, i think it would work. They could offer two multitable tournaments per day and i think a lot of people would play. not only that but people who are specialists in one game may begin to pick up interest in others as a result of playing horse. it works out good for everyone. |

How about a play-money HORSE tournament?
Also, it would be good if you could have a button on the tables to pop-up a short rules synopsis of the current game. I generally find every second Razz sit'n'go I get involved in, there is at least one player that doesn't know the rules. |

| Not sure why we can't play SnGs though as no advantage could be gained like in cash games. I for one would not be put off by the game changing quickly as I think the all round players who play HORSE are comfortable playing most forms of poker and the fun players would just be having a laugh anyway. |

My thoughts are bring it on baby!
If players sit during a ring of unfamiliar play then just be sure they pay for the sit they take. Simple as that.
If FTP will not have HORSE as an option then why have it as a forum as well?
FTP should remember what is popular in the forums is likely also popular at the tables. The fact is that HORSE will help FTP increase the table numbers for other games beside Hold'em. This is good for FTP and also for the players who participate in various multiple forms of poker.
Let get some good HORSE games going here! |

Ok, so if someone sits out, make them post all missed blinds and antes to re-enter the table. Have the game switch with each rotation of the button, and if I sit out after Hold 'Em, and the Omaha blinds are 1-2 and the ante for others is 50 cents at a 6-table game, I have to pay my Omaha blinds ($3) plus all the antes (6 seats X $.50 X 3 rounds = $9) to get back in when Hold 'Em comes around again. This would punish those who sit out of the ante games, and keep the game fairly honest with people who want to play HORSE. A player would be pretty much throwing away $12 per five rounds to play 6 hands of HE, and the 6 hands of HE would not have a +$12 expectation, so it would not be worth it to sit out
Come on, FTP, let's do it! |

| I think punishing people that much for sitting out is a bit harsh. After all, there is a possibility that someone just needs to sit out for other reasons than skipping a game. |

| They should drop out of the seat and give someone else a crack at the game then. I'm talking mostly about the players who would abuse the game by playing only the flop games or only the stud games. |
