Well, your dislike for Humberto is pretty obvious when you said this:

Quote:
1:06 PM – Humberto makes some bet on the turn (after K-5-6-T) right after Huck beats Chip and is walking around. Laak asks if he can show Huck his hand. Humberto, “Show it to anybody? TJ?” The announcer says that’s not allowed. Humberto puts on the jester hat and gets into Phil’s face, making some noises. Laak is acting like he’s going to respond by pushing all-in. Brenes wanders the floor with his shark. Laak moves all-in and Humberto instantly calls. But he doesn’t do anything “instantly,” making it impossible to figure out what’s on the board or what cards. The clown has 5-6 for two pair. Laak has K-9 for top pair. Laak doesn’t get help on the river and, disgustingly, Humberto advances. It takes a lot to make poker look stupid, but Humberto has managed it.

You have a much better insight into the poker world and the players, but those are some harsh words. Yes, Humberto is a "ham" and plays up to the cameras, but anytime I have seen him on TV, the players at the table seem to enjoy his presence. You appear to be a poker purist with an old school mentality about the game so I understand your perspective; however, I feel that the wide spectrum of personalities that come together to play the game is part of what makes it great.

Also, I was hoping to hear your feelings about the following comment you made in your blog:

Quote:
Humberto is supposed to be a nice man and a gentleman, but I have some problems with his TV act, enough that I'd hug Daniel Negreanu if it would end Humberto's run.

Maybe I am reaching on this one, but it sounds like you have a problem with Negreanu as well. It could be some personal issue that you would rather not discuss, but I was hoping to hear more about this...

Man Humberto and Daniel are ones of my fav players. Humberto is just so out there and funny and talks your ear off and then Daniel can almost always read you like a book. He has great instincts and I love how he talks to himself during hands. That is how I do it whether live or online.

Humberto is not a bad player, but for sure not a great player. Doubt there are more than a half dozen really great players in the world.
I like the way he has fun at the table. Would enjoy playing at any table with him
Daniel is not near the player he is reputed to be. He is or was on a "hot", nothing more. You don't see him get to far in most tournaments. Most of these so called big players only get to the final table when its a closed tournament. Daniel was like Jamie Gold....just got lucky. His day is over, in my opinion. How anyone can be so foolish as to think these young players are "experts" is beyond me. Takes longer than most of them have been alive to even understand the game. In short, there is no substitute for experience. I predict most of them will be broke sooner than later............if you are keeping up on the cash games, you know what I mean....Jennifer lost $5million in one game I hear....another over rated player.

- 3 WSOP Braclets
- 24 WSOP ITM finishes
- 2 WPT Titles
- 7 WPT final tables
- 14 WPT ITM finishes (Record, tied with John Juanda)
- 4 WPT ITM finishes in a row (Record)
- Nearly $10,000,000 in live tournament winnings (Only behind Gold & Hachem)

That's just naming a few of his accolades. Either that is one hell of a hot streak or he IS as good as people say he is.

Actually he is over 10mil, and he is the only player do it w/o the help of a big WSOP ME finish, as Gold and Hachem have. I believe his biggest tournament cash was only for about 1.7mil at the Five Diamond in 2004. He must be doing something right.

*On a side note, Hellmuth, who has been tearing up the WPT championship with about 30-40 players left, will also eclipse the 10mil mark if he can manage 3rd or better I think.

I cannot believe that u r saying nething against Daniel. He is the best and most fun player around. I love the way he plays. He creates energy in everyone around him. Humberto is an excellent player also. If u dont like his sharkk then say so. I think his sharks are entertaining.

Humberto is hilarious. He's also pretty good, as seen by his runs at the WSOP the past couple of years. He is very entertaining, and doesn't intend to harm anyone.

From what I've seen/heard, I have to disagree with both comments. I've watched him on TV, heard Joe Sebok talk about him, and seen him in the WCOOP. He makes stupid calls with, say, ATo preflop with no reason to do so, only to be dominated terribly.

He also is obviously just acting for TV. His little shark drives everyone crazy. Apparently he sucked out on Sebok to knock him out and then proceeds to get all up in his face with his shark acting as though it was a great play by him.

I wonder how funny it would be if Humberto hit you in the eye with his shark / laser pointer in a tourney you just dropped a ton of cash on to play ?

I think some of the pro's go way to far .. like Helmuths rants , he is going to get knocked on his azz someday for that . I have seen Humberto make contact with players with his little toys and I would pitch such a biotch about that , especially if I payed some of the entry fee's they are charging now.

The thing i s, most of the poker I have played has been in an environment where being invited to step outside for bad behavior was always a possibility . Maybe thats why we showed each other a bit more respect than some of them do in TV land

I have to agree that Negreanu is damn good. From what I have sen he reads people like no other and he is one of the most intelligent players in poker. It is also overlooked that he was player of the year in 2005. I think that is an accomplishment that does not get enough recognition. In my opinion that is greater than the main event title in certain respects.
