I felt like I was being trapped the whole way so I folded to the raise on the river. Should I have called all in on the river or done something different at another point in this hand?

Some background info that may be relevant. Generally, he seemed like a good player. I caught him bluffing in a recent hand and had doubled up on the previous hand when he put me all in when he had bottom 2 pair on a paired board and I had top 2 pair. When he raised preflop he seemed to have good hands. All of this made me think I was beat here by at least a better A but I don't like folding top pair heads up.

I'd say you're probably beat, and folding is correct. The problem is, although you were able to assess accurately the strength of your hand on the end, it cost you a large bet on every street to do so. Still, with top pair here, it's possible he's calling with a weaker hand, so I like how you played it. I don't think I would have done anything differently.

This is fine, I don't even mind going broke here, maybe check in to the raiser on the flop. Check/raise, then maybe fold if you can is my line.
