Hi, I'm reasonably new to PL Omaha. I've been playing NL Holdem for a while now and usually I try to ensure that I have at least 400 times the big blind when I play to ensure I don't go broke.
What I've noticed with PL Omaha is that it's a higher variance game than NL Holdem so I'm thinking that I need at least 500 big blinds to play it without worrying about going broke.
Generally, I'll allow a bit of give if I fall a little bit under these benchmarks.
What do others think? Both in terms of how YOU do it and how I should do it given the way I manage my bankroll for NL Holdem. |

Everything that I've seen pretty much suggests having at least 30 full buyins (3000 Big Blinds) for the level you're playing. Mainly this is because it is higher variance, and it's not that often that you'll find yourself as a 9:1 favorite or something that demanding. I've had sick runs in my experince where I've lost 15-20 buyins without really doing anything terrible in terms of play.
This is of course assuming that you don't have a stash of money somewhere else that you can use to replace your initial roll, in which you can get by with less. It also doesn't assume that you're trying to play professionally, in which you'd want even more of a bankroll. |

500bbs will be eaten up very quickly unless you have a sick run of cards. |
