| Haha - yea. I love making up tells, getting my opponents used to them, and then using it in a massive hand. I usually use them when I have a strong hand, and then later to bluff. I've had the drumming of fingers on the table, the playing with my chips, the looking away from the game, sitting up straight, getting really talky, getting really quiet (different games, obviously), and several others that I can't remember off the top of my head. It's great - they get so sure of themselves - "fold - she has the nuts. remember last time she drummed her fingers like that?" Hehe... |
when you "mix it up", do you do it when you play with people you know? the reason i ask is because if you used this with people you don't know very well, you might send a signal that you really didnt want to send. know what i mean? |

I've recently started using the "twirling my hair" tell. Sometimes I twirl in a clockwise direction, sometimes in a counter-clockwise direction and sometimes I just run my fingers through it from scalp to ends. It drives the men batty just trying to figure out what I'm doing and then they don't concentrate on their game and I get their chips.
It's so much fun being a chick at the table.

Funkay, what did you mean? Mix it up? Huh? That wasn't in my post...
Yea, I play mostly with people I know, being a college student. That pretty much leaves me dorm and apartment games, so I need to change things around - they eventually catch on that my "certain" tell isn't so certain anymore. Then I need a new one.
Best of all, we play in a lounge which has glass walls, so you can see into the hallway on both sides. Many nights, some....scantily dressed girls start running from room to room and heading out. While the guys drool, I rake in the dough...
Honestly, I think they should have strippers. It would be very distracting to them, and I'd be at a distinct advantage... |

| for the original poster talking about early SNG play, i know most replies are regarding NL, but for limit SNG's what works for me is it is best to let the maniacs duke it out and destroy each others' stacks early on, when i get in a hand with one in the first few rounds it is with top cards, but they dont usually show respect or slow down, which is good for the patient player. |

| Getting involved early is not the way to win over time. You can push much larger edges late in the SNG when everyone else tightens up. |

Couldnt agree more urbanmeyer. It is so fricking cool to have a super tight image when the blinds are around 100-200 and you can steal them at will. even if i only have around 1000 when the blinds are that high, i can quickly run my stack up to 4 or 5thou. winning is so much easier when they are terrified of you late in the tourn. |
