I had the stack and the odds...I tried to raise to put pressure on you were getting desperate and could be pushing wider than AQ (as you were obviously). No need to get snarky. Are you a four-time heads up finalist this season?

You continue to prove my points as your arrogance gets stronger week after week. You'd be earning much more respect if you were able to take this great run that your experiencing without boasting and feeling the need to put every other player down just so that you can reassure your elitist attitude.

I didn't make the Final Table because of unfortunate timing when I shoved with AQs against a player who had been raising alot against a short-handed table. The player behind me who hadn't entered the pot yet happened to wake up with AA.

I'm not judgmental of your play, or your poker game....I only point these things out because you carry yourself with very little class in a fun-spirited league that's suppose to be in the spirit of competition.

Here are a few of your greatest pieces, you classy guy:

Wow, what an unprecedented run of greatness. I am currently listening to the Mr. Perfect theme song. I think it's fitting.

Sorry I didn't see cubbies at the final table.

Just keep showing up each week so I can take your chips.

I'll just keep dominating like I do every week and I'll win this thing one of these days. Congrats on your finish. What'd that pay? -$5.50?

Haha, think what you want. Better luck next week. Maybe read up on how to play.

Good game, wish I could have been the one to have the honor of felting you...

You like to re-raise eh? Think you're f***ing tough? Keep it up you goddamn maniac.

Are you a four-time heads up finalist this season?

Seriously Phoenix... try showing some humility... even you have admitted to getting a great run of cards. You're making enemies around here pretty quick.

And btw, great call of my all-in w/ A2o... that was awesome.

I engage in some trash talk, just kidding around and I try to apologize for it and reiterate that I am just playing around and then people like cubbies started trashing me. That's why I don't show any concern for upsetting cubbies. He/she presumed to know me and know why I do what I do and I don't appreciate that.

Some of you seem to get that I am just joking around with my arrogance and as one of you noted, I have admitted to a great run of cards. I won every race last tourney for example. In previous tournies, I have been dealt KK or AA like 5 or 6 times. I can say with confidence that I am not the most knowledgeable person in this series. I think I am decent, but I've gotten lucky, no doubt.

Sorry some of you take me so seriously. The only person I really am trying to be spiteful toward is cubbies because he/she continues to judge me and presume to know me. To everyone else, I just kid.

And it was a nice, auto call with A2. I had a big enough stack to be able to absorb what would have been only a small blow. It was blind vs. blind, any A in that situation could easily be a favorite. And you were desperate, you couldn't wait for a premium hand. To me, it's funnier that you actually make fun of me for that call as if it was horrendous. I think any decent poker player in my situation makes that call in a heartbeat. And was I right? Not like you had AJ and I sucked out. You had 64. I read you like a book.

Sorry if I've offended all of you. I'll be more careful in the future not to let any success go to my head. But people continue to take shots at me and it's hard to keep my mouth shut when they do that.

Mad props to craig who engaged in a flame war with me earlier, but who was mature enough to accept my apologies and engage me in some interesting discussions since. I wish others could follow his lead.

What you seem to be overlooking, Phoenix, is the fact that all of this began with this thread....shortly after you sent me a PM regarding the flame war with craig.

http://pokerforums.fulltiltpoker.com/viewtopic.php?p=391496&highlight=#391496

Then you continued to use the PM feature to blast other's play. Everything ensued from there.

I don't claim to know you because I have absolutely no desire to know you. You have displayed some characteristics through this whole ordeal that I really don't like. I cannot respect a player who cannot control his temper. When you fire off a PM (because you're chat banned, obv.) during the middle of a game blasting my/others play, that just shows how much of a cry baby you are.

You then try to backtrack by using the forum to make yourself appear to be the better man.

I have never personally attacked anyone in this forum without a good reason for it. You have brought it upon yourself.

With that being said, I think that you're a very good player. I just wish that you had been able to handle your latest successes while showing some humility and respect for your fellow forumers.

I apologize for my immature behavior. I do respect all of the forumers. And most of you are very good poker players, most likely better than me Smile

I mostly kid around, but sometimes my temper does get in the way. But I wish I wouldn't be judged solely on the times I run amok. I have tried to offer thoughtful advice to many posts, I often take a lot of time to craft my replies. I hope I've been helpful, or at least have stimulated thought in some instances.

I'd like to think I have a decent rapport with a few of you that understand that I mostly like to joke around and that I do get remorseful when I go too far. Cubbies has his/her mind made up...I respect that. But I wish the holier-than-thou attitude could get dropped.

Best of luck to all of you in the coming weeks.

I'm willing to let things go, as I see that you realize some of my points.

As I've stated on numerous occasions, your poker advice seems quite sound, and even advanced compared to some of the generic advice given in this forum (which I'm sometimes guilty of ).

I'm certain that this forum also appreciates the time and effort that you usually put into each of your poker-related posts.

My holier-than-thou attitude seems to be a misinterpretation of me simply trying to point out some of the remarks that you've made that appear to be condescending and arrogant.

Let's agree to disagree on some things, and move on.

Phoenix, after reading some of the posts you've made and some of the PM's you sent, it would appear to the casual observer that these are not in fun. If that is your intention, it's not coming off that way. Also, the Mr. Perfect theme song while a bit creative and funny, could come across as being arrogant. I have nothing against you nor do I think you're a horrible person. I'm just pointing out that it would appear that the comments don't seem to be as light-hearted as you may think.

Congrats on your recent success in the MBJ.

I completely admit that some of my PMs and posts are unduly hostile and I again apologize.

But c'mon...the Mr. Perfect thing is totally in fun. I wasn't even listening to it.

When I go to Las Vegas in a month, I am totally wearing my "Ravishing" Rick Rude t-shirt to the tables. It's all about just having fun and being ridiculous. If I am drunk enough, I might actually get up and gyrate my hips when I win a big pot, much like the late Ravishing One used to do before his matches. I probably won't, because I realize that's over the top, but I just like the thought.

R.I.P. Richard Rood.

I guess it's better than wearing the Golddust T-shirt.

Not being snarky, just honest. You tried to raise to put pressure on me, knowing that if I pushed, you would "have to call" with a range that was likely to be behind. Did you read that in Jamie Gold's book? And no, I'm not a 4-times heads up finalist this season, because:

a) I've only played 2 games
b) I haven't run like god.

If you really think you can get HU 4 times (out of 8 I think) without an unholy amount of luck being involved, then your arrogance is only exceeded by your idiocy.

You need to calm down.

First off, yes, I committed myself to have to call in a marginal spot. But instead of A7, you could just as easily had 93 and folded. I had a stack, I was raising to put some pressure on and I got caught by you. But I wasn't raising like a complete and utter maniac. Not sure where the "raise a big stack with A7 when he's probably going to be committed to call" nugget of gold is either...haven't come across that in my readings.

And yes, I've been lucky. But at least some people can give me credit for playing well. So you've never seen a pro make a raise with a so-so hand to force his opponents into tough spots and end up having to make a less than desirable call because of the inviting odds? Maybe my play wasn't ideal, but don't think it was completely donk like.

You hadn't shown down anything other than AQ...maybe that's true...but I saw you raising quite a bit in some situations, you're definitely not as tight as you might like to think you portray. That you pushed over the top of me with A7 without proper fold equity illustrates that point.

But you seemed to play a solid game. I take nothing away from you. I don't want to get into more flaming. I will stick up for myself when my play is questioned and insulted though. Better luck next week fire_eyes.

+1
What some have mentioned regarding how you come across with your humor, just isn't cutting it. Granted, it's difficult to decipher someone's humor/attitude from a forum post. However, your posts seem to go in the same direction......downward.

Quite a few of the regulars have played all 4 seasons of the MBJ. In season 2 I had a sick run of good cards, suck outs etc. etc. and I think I won like 4 tournies. I really can't remember any brag posts. There's almost always some discussion regarding HH's but for the most part, it was all meant in a constuctive way. That's how we learn. For me, the Sunday night MBJ's are a fun tourney to play weekly with my forum buddies, kick alittle azz (on occassion) and play some poker with good poker players. It's just not necessary to act like a jerk and make everyone else look idiots and that's basically what I see you doing.

Phoenix, it may not be intentional from your side. However, it looks that way and that's why you're getting so much flack. Tone it down and you won't have to be defending yourself all the time. Humility is a good thing!

Looks like I missed an interesting tournament. One thing I will say is: Why get mad when others play bad? I only get mad if I make what I consider to be a mistake. Also, there is no reason to belittle other people. This is supposed to be a fun event. I have been in the lead pretty much from the first week (I do have more tournaments in then many of the people behind me) and havent said anything. Its just enjoyable to play with a group of people who want to play and talk poker.

And just for the record, personal attacks and nasty pm's should be grounds for some punishment (suspension, etc) if it continues. I will also say thephoenix78 has never said anything insulting or derogatory to me and I have never received a nasty (or any) pm from him.
