| we need to pick someone to "be in charge". In other words pm with rick, decide specifics of tourney, etc. The Jen harman tourney was $10, 5 to prize pool 5 to charity. Then if we want to swell the prize pool to attract more players, all the better. I say make it one big tourney, then try to get those with connections to pass the word to a red pro. |
Rick is in charge of this charity series. He'll decide specifics. And if he needs help from anyone for anything, he won't hesitate to ask.
If you want to "be a leader", go ahead and create "one big tourney"... no one is stopping you.
I can't speak for buns, but I'm not inerested in creating my own tourney for a variety of reasons. One of which is what you touched upon... "connections to the pros". I don't have any. Thus, am not interested in raising $50-$100 for the charity of my choice. I'd rather just donate that on my own w/out a poker tourney.
I know you and many others want to see this get off the ground, but be patient... once this series gets going, it will be very successful, I'm sure. |

Hello Everyone,
I still want to do the charity series, but it involves a lot of time and energy (from not only myself, but others in the company). So, here is what I am thinking as an alternative......
Many of the Pros have their own charity tournaments, and run them throughout the year. How about we make a leaderboard and track about 25-50 individuals in these tournaments?
The only way to qualify would be through past participation in MBJ Seasons, and I could help Pete with any results. I could also determine which charity tournaments count towards the leaderboard, and award special prizes at the end of the 6 months or year (however long we decide to go). Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Rick |

| Sounds good. Whatever you decided to do for this I'm sure would get a lot of support. |

My blondeness (not much left) is surfacing. I don't get what you mean by this statement.

I'm going to try to step in with how I interpreted it...
The leaderboard will be created with 25-50 forumers on it. The people that qualify will have played the MBJ previously and participated in the forum. This is because since it will be a widely known event, not just forum people, it would be extremely hard to make the leaderboard for everyone. It would also eliminate someone playing in a few random charity tournaments, and randomly receiving some type of prize.
I think. |

That's what I got from it, too.
Sounds fine to me. |

| I'll admit, I'm lazy and don't feel like going through this. But could someone explain the structure or concept of this. Is this a $5 + $5 buy-in or something similar? |

| Rick's post on this page explains the format of the leaderboard and which tournaments. But yes, typically in the past the charity tournaments that I have seen, such as the Bad Beat on Cancer ones, are $5 + $5. |

If we got this plan in action the first tournament for the leaderboard could be the fairfood tournament. It is on sept 27.
Even if it doesnt count toward the leaderboard, people who are interested should look into playing. A thread about it can be found in this section if you havn't seen it. |
