| I hear ya Riley... I wanted to shed some light on IFAW because the "anti-hunting" rallying call was gaining some momentum and was beginning to put a negative vibe on this charity series. |

I checked out the IFAW website as well and they are proud to proclaim that they helped with the hunting ban in England as well as protesting the Seal hunt in Canada...
It seems like they do some very good things, but I cannot bring myself to support organizations that try to impose their anti-hunting agenda on me. Even if anti-hunting is just a small piece of what they do.
I do not have any information that says IFAW is involved with this, and in no way am I saying that they do, but many of these types of organizations give money and support to groups like ALF or ELF and that is terrible in my opinion...
Lets stop our banter back and forth about this...
I am not going to clutter up this thread anymore with this...If you would like to continue this conservation, we can start another thread...I don't want to take away from what Rick is trying to set up here... |

From what I've heard they are much better then the Red Cross.
As far as IAFW being anti-hunting, I did a quick google and found this on their site:
http://www.ifaw.org/ifaw/general/default.aspx?oid=83906
Some snippets from it when discussing foxhunting;
| Quote: |
"Animal welfare organisations are tonight celebrating the end of hunting with dogs "
"All forms of hunting are equally cruel" said Phyllis Campbell-McRae, UK Director of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW.)
:
Notes to Editors:
IFAW is a member of the umbrella group Campaigning to Protect Hunted Animals (CPHA), with the League Against Cruel Sports and the RSPCA. |
I think this clearly puts them on the anti-hunting side of a debate. |

Can't wait till these tournaments start..nice to know that my $ isn't just going 2 "sharks" I didn't read all of the suggestions but I would like to add or reitterate the AFA Alzheimers Foundation of America. This one hits close to home for me as my father, a brilliant architect and Ivey leauge professor has been battling the disease for a few years now. This disease, as all are, is so tragic and so so hard on the families. Researchers are making progress, unfortunately it doesn't look like it will be soon enough for our family but this disease, as all, needs to be cured. Maybe NASA could donate some of it's billions they use towards finding ambiotic life billions of miles from here but I doubt it.
I'd love to do anything I can to help you guys if you need it,or want it.
Please let me know.

| Great suggestions so far. It sounds like we are going to have to play for mostly health related charities. I am going to start researching a lot of these, so keep them coming. |

Defenders of Wildlife...they help out rare and near extinct animals and help save habitat for animals to live in. My wife and I support them when we get the chance. |

Hi Rick,
Thanks again for the last forum freeroll, i know this is a different thread but whatever.
I saw a lot of the charities and most involved nature or some sort of medical research. I would like to suggest: http://supportthetroops.com/
This is a great site that obviously, supports our troops. Primarily their efforts are directed to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. I have a number of family members in the military and I know they're always glad to have support from people stateside.
Anyways, just a suggestion. |
