Lucky, but not HORRIBLE play on your part. He could very well have made that same play with something like AK. Certainly not great play either, though...

Nice to see a "look I won" hand.

Yeah, from the initial limp and call I thought we was playing something like k/j and was on the gut shot str8 draw with top pair, and I wanted to make him pay to see his cards. Unforunately I made the wrong read and a bad move, but got pretty lucky to suck out.

I've done similar in a home game.

Some girl was getting real lucky all night and had already taken $10 from me, and I was just waiting for a strong hand. I get AQ and limp in and the flop comes 8 Q 5. Top pair, no real draws, I felt good. She bet $2 (way overbet, as we were playing for nickels and dimes). I reraised all in for $14 total, and after a while she called and showed 8 5. I felt sick, but the turn came a J and the river another J to give me a better two pair. Seemed only fair after she sucked out against my Ks and Qs.
