I finally finished updating all my summaries for pokertracker today and began looking at my stats and I saw what I sort of expected, I'm a small winner all time in tournaments but my cash game needs some serious work.

In cash games and tournaments I am the yellow smile face which stands for: Semi-loose Aggressive/Aggressive

this means Vol% is between 20 and 30%
Preflop raising is greater then 5%
Aggression is over 2.0

So i guess this type of play will get you by in smaller buyin tournaments but is alful for cash games.

Any tips or thoughts would be great.

PS this is all for Hold'em only.

Next you will be wanting to have your cake and eat it too...

It's funny how things can swing round. When I started out I played cash and did ok, then I switched to SNGs and had really good success - but then when I went back to cash I just sucked and was an ATM so I went back SNGs and did alright. Then 2 weeks ago I thought I would give cash another shot - and now it's my bread & butter.

I am just the opposite. I do much better in cash games then I do in tournaments. The difference is, in a cash game you can risk your chips when you know you are behind (If getting the proper odds) and come out ahead in the long run. In a tournament, if you lose that pot you can be crippled and cannot rebuy.

My guess would be you play cash like a tournament and will lay down a hand when you were actually getting the odds to call.

This is just my guess as what is happening, but it is something I have seen before from people who have played more tournaments then cash games.

I might try some cash tonight, might pour over some more stats.

Anyone here that uses PT know if Semi-loose Aggressive/Aggressive is bad for cash?

Actually, from whenever I've seen Phil Ivey play, my PokerTracker tracked him for about 3k HH's, and he is just that. I believe another pro, online player Prahlad Friedman (aka Spirit Rock) is the same in my PT database.

So your saying I'm just like Phil Ivey, how long does it take to get my life savings on here? Very Happy Wink

So maybe I do treat Cash like a tourny and fold when i got odds.

Also to record tables that your are watching you have to have PT on at the time updating?

BTW, if anybody wants Poker Tracker at a discount, let me know. I'll sell the rights to mine for $35 and get you a new USER ID and have mine cancelled. I don't really feel like keeping up with it.

FYI, auto-rate is based on 9max by default. You need to mess with your preferences and stuff to seperate 6max out and then find 6max rules you can import to auto-rate that data.
