ive been playing more heads up sng's lately and wondering about bankroll. ive been playing just the $10.50's for now so when i win i show a profit of $9.50 as u win $20 at this level. My question is how much should i have in my bankroll to move up to the $20+1 heads up sng's? I assume bankroll standards are a little different for heads up since u dont win as much but u have a 50% chance to win. any thoughts? i may just play heads up exclusively, im enjoying it more than the full table ones.

I don't know if I'd say a heads up situation is 50% to win/loose, but in any case, I've heard conservative statements saying you need 30-50 buy-ins for SnG's, but I've also heard looser statements of 15-25 buy-ins for a level. It's really more what you're comfortable with and your skill level.

That's assuming perfectly even match-ups. I wouldn't say any two poker players sitting at a table have perfectly even skill levels. One is bound to have an advantage.

certainly 1 player is almost always more skilled but as far as # of players involved & # of players who cash, you are a 50% chance to win, just like in a full table sng u have 33% chance to cash since 3 of 9 cash. same thing.

If you are 50% to win and your profit from winning is less than your buy in. Sounds like a losing deal to me. If you play 20 heads up SNG's at the 10+.50 level thats going to cost you $210. If you win 50% of them you will only have $200 in winnings. I hope if you plan to play heads up SNG's full time that you have a better chance of winning than 50%.

good point but i am planning on winning more than 50% of the heads up sng's i play, starting off ive targeted 60%, like 3 of every 5 i play, or 6 of every 10 & so on.. today i played 9 & won 6, showing a profit of $25.50. a very very small sample i know but for now im only shooting for 60% win rate.

I think a 70% win rate at the low levels is certainly achievable. There's definitely good money to be made playing only HU matches. Let's assume you play 3 matches per hour and you're playing the $20 + $1 games with a 70% win rate. Therefore, every hour you are paying $63 in fees and winning (120 * 0.7) $84 for a net profit of $21 per hour.
